The rest isn't bad for him but could have used him against the Capitals.

I expected a suspension, I'm more salted that they didn't review Pearson's actions, but I never expect the NHL to be consistent.
Just more us against them.

It really doesn't matter what part of his arm landed. The point was it was clearly intentional and 90% of the fan base seems capable of admitting it.
It's really odd that a select few people here seem to be clinging to the position that it wasn't intended.

It didnt look good on Matt but those 2 have a history. He needs to be smarter. Doughty also sold it like a 90s wrestler .

The NHL is trying to get its 10 games back, one way or the other.
DOPS is a joke, and an inconsistent one at that.

Get some rest Tkachuky. We'll need you to do this for 7 games against Bieksa and Fowler.

Dislike the judgment. He did make contact with the head first, but it didn't look like an elbow to me. One game would certainly have been sufficient and I doubt it would have been even that if Doughty had done the same to Tkachuk.

Pfft. Should've been one or none. Baloney.
I'm guessing all the unexpected attention drove up the penalty.

For the next two games I would try either Bennett or Versteeg on the wing with Backlund and Frolik. Maybe one game with each depending on how things go.

He had the puck and elbowed Doughty in the chest, partially to defend himself from the hit from behind (if anything made head contact it was his shoulder). I hope he does that every single time on that play even if it's a wee bit dirty. Doughty and others will think twice after seeing that so the 2 games is worth it longer term. Also, better to get a 2 game suspension out of the way now rather than later on.
Doughty's whining about how dare a rookie make that play on a veteran makes me love Tkachuk even more. The number of times I've seen players go easy on McDived because they are afraid of the backlash/stigma is embarassing. I hope Tkachuk and others wipe the floor with McPouty's face if we play them in the playoffs.

It's not an "official" change, just filling in a needed vacancy, and it might help get Bennett going offensively.

well, i was totally wrong about the suspension...
guess that's why i haven't won the lottery yet...
i love how teams can crack Johnny's hand deliberately and not get sanctioned for it..
I still fee that Doughty embellished it (who's no saint on the ice either btw), but the league thought otherwise...

I have no problem with the suspension as it was a clear elbow and he knew what he was doing. I just wish the NHL was more consistent. It shouldn't matter if it was a star player like Doughty or a no-name 7th defenseman but it does in the NHL and that's just not right. In the NFL at least they look at the incident first and foremost and then the perpetrator to see if they have a history and hand out the suspension/fine. In the NHL they look at the incident, perpetrator and the victim and it seems that they weigh all three equally which is just silly. The victim shouldn't factor in on the decision in any way.

LMAO.....if it were 3 games.....it would be against both Nashville and St. Louis.
Both games the Kings need us to win.

Doughty performance after the elbow and whining to the media after the game was a big reason for the suspension. If he didn't lay on the ice like he was shot, we wouldn't be talking about suspension today.

Come on now. DoPS heard Doughty and decided to suspend Tkachuk because of that, Not the blatant elbow to the face?

I know I said Hathaway, and man does he deserve it... but man would it be fun to see Janko get a shot again - if we slide Bennett to the wing to play in a key role with Backs and Fro shutting down top lines I think it would be a win win for Janko and Benny.
Gaudreau - Monahan - Chiasson
Bennett - Backlund - Frolik
Versteeg - Jankowski - Brouwer
Bouma - Stajan - Lazar
Still think it's Hathaway that will get the call but I'm very excited for the next time the big Jankowski gets the call.
