Wow that was way worse than the hit on Russel. I guess McDavid is fair game to be hunted down and made wet.

If they were going to fine him they could have at least made it painful. Lucic probably spends 10K per month on burgers.

It'll be interesting what the DOPS does next time Lucic does this.

That is ridiculous. A 10% improvement is impressive. 50% is ridiculous.

If there was any improvement at all I'm sure it was something like this:

Average NHLer runs 40 in 6 seconds. Lucic runs it in 10 seconds. He is 4 seconds behind.

Average NHLer runs 40 in 6 seconds. Lucic now runs it in 8. He is now only 2 seconds behind. 50% improvement, still way behind everyone else!

You can have it both ways!

Not a popular opinion, but I don't have too much of an issue with what Lucic did. I didn't see the Joseph hit on Russell, but IF it was a big boarding call that injured Russell and the refs missed it, then this is what happens.

I also don't think that Lucic tried to hurt Joseph - just rough him up. I think he could have hit him a lot harder and hurt him with a hit, or actually wound-up and really smoked Joseph, but he didn't. It doesn't LOOK like he was hitting Joseph during the ensuing scrum, so that's good too.

A fine sounds about right. It would be something else in my books if he took a run at Joseph with an intent to injure, or just threw his gloves off and started wailing away. I was expecting a Bertuzzi-like altercation here. I would expect that from Peluso tonight if a Duck took a run at one of the players on the Flames, for instance, without it being called.

Now excuse me... I have to have a long hot shower to get all this grease off of me for actually sticking up for a player I hate and have no respect for, on a team that I absolutely detest. Yuck.

Is Lucic not a repeat offender? Has he never been suspended? Because if he has, there should definitely have been a suspension for a blatant intent to attack/injure an unsuspecting player.

Weird.

I didn't think Joseph's hit was from behind, Jo. Benn's hit on Gaudreau a few games ago was way worse.

Based on what they gave Matheson for shoving Petersson, Lucic should've got a few games.

Bigger penalty to make the oilers scratch him which is what they are about to do. Big piece of humble pie coming Lucic's way.

For what it's worth, Jack White called Edmonton out on stage during the Calgary show at the Corral. He said something about "love is love" and got a huge cheer.

As for Lucic, I can't believe (well, yes I can) that Edmonton media is defending his actions. I hadn't seen the clip until just now, and it's definitely pre-meditated.

Wow! So harsh. Lucic only made $6,438.36 usd today after he pays the fine....

Or just under $8500 Canadian. Oh the humanity!

DOPS clearly misnamed.

Agreed, no issues with the fine as well. No need for suspension. Peluso betterdo the same damn thing in the same circumstance.

I'd hope Peluso did it without being so cheap.

Edmonton with no luck at all, having both Russell and Lucic out of the lineup could have been a blessing for the Oil. but nope, E=NG.

I have no problem with what Milan Lucic did.

I wish that the Flames had someone who did that once in awhile to send a message.
