Most people do. Most people are wrong.

This phrase (or idiom) comes from the sport of kings: horse racing. A bit is part of the apparatus that goes in the horse’s mouth and connects to the bridle and reins so the horse can be controlled and directed by the jockey on its back. The bit fits into a toothless ridge of the horse’s mouth, so the horse never really bites the bit. But it can grind his teeth or jaw against the bit, and if it does, it means that the horse is either nervous, or really excited about racing.

One definition of champ is to bite or chew noisily. These are the senses meant in the idiom champing at the bit, which refers to the tendency of some horses to chew on the bit when impatient or eager. In its figurative sense, it means to show impatience while delayed, or just to be eager to start.

That’s how the phrase “champing at the bit” entered everyday communications: to indicate extreme eagerness.

Andersson cut his hair? Boo! I thought he looked great with his long hair flapping in the breeze as he skated.

Guess we'll be softening up the Predators for their game against the Oilers tomorrow night. Boo schedule makers.

I don't mind rewarding Hathaway with another game over Czarnik.

Hathaway was emotionally invested in the last game and it showed.

It's not a talent thing, it's a preparedness thing.

Janko's turn on the hotseat again I think.

Gut feelings on who gets some surprise secondary scoring for the Flames tonight? Want to pick up a Flame for today with a surplus move in my fantasy league...

Frolik heating up?
Janko on the hotseat?
Dube back in the lineup?
Valimaki starting a streak?
Andersson with the new 'do?

?

I was actually going to grab Czarnik, good thing I waited.

For the fans in attendance tonight, please make Juuse Saros feel at home and welcomed. Like he doesn't want to leave.

Thirty white horses, standing on a hill
Stamping, champing, then they stand still.

Going from memory. Gollum! Gollum!

I've been to every Flames vs Preds game in Nashville for a number of years now. For some reason the Flames play the Preds great in Nashville. I'm not sure about our home stats against them though. We sure have their number at their place though. I for one hope Neal can get going. To me, it looks like he is getting outplayed by many of his lower priced teammates and he looks slow. I hope he is just knocking rust off or something but if he gets going and can pot 25 or so for us this year, I think we'll have a very special team.

If Frolik (and young Johnny) was any indication, I'm pretty excited about Dube coming back tonight
