Lol, I knew this thread was gonna pop up again after that goal. I guess since Bennett is playing well, we need a new whipping boy. Welcome to the club, James!

Lots of love for Neil here. Am I the only guy who sees him flub shots and miss great chances? I like what he can bring to the club, but I'm concerned by all the free passes that he currently gets.
He isn't shooting enough. Neil needs to be hitting the net about 2x as often if we're going to get his normal average. We need him to be just a little bit better.

Neil?
I haven't really been impressed with Neal yet. Doesn't seem to ever get a shot off. Maybe the ta needs to strategize around him and get him the puck where he wants it more often. He hasn't been very noticeable so far this season.

That 'Neil' retired 2 years ago and was never any good for anything but face punching to begin with.

He's already made $469,512. That's a lot of suck for that kinda money. Coulda/shoulda spent that money somewhere else. Oh well

4 minute high stick and failure to finish for our 5 million dollar man and that's a loss. We are paying him to finish and his shots are right at the goalie. This signing will really hurt us long term. I watched him from Nashville up through. Never liked him and was the benefactor of the lines he was on. He looks like he's dogging it out there cause he expects to be on the first line potting goals from Johnny. He's not a good fit anywhere on this team and it's gonna hurt.

He and Bennett have great chemistry. Best Bennett has looked in ages. I'm not down on Neal as it's early and he's always been somewhat streaky.

Neal also fed Bennett for a tap in that Sam just put wide, followed by drawing the late PP.

Very active game for him. Good chances to score and the tying goal on the stick if Brodie’s pass was a couple inches better and Neal was able to pull it around the goalie.
Not concerned at all, lol at those who want to have the spotlight on them and first to be in line to pat themselves on the back in the event he’s deemed a failure in 2 or 3 seasons, as that’s all the extreme complaining and bringing up his $ to date is doing 7 games into a season, is doing.

And yet I don't think I've seen an accurate shot out of him once so far.

I dunno, I think he's open to criticism like anyone else. I'm sure Neal himself, as well as Tre, would have hoped for a better start. He could still end up with 25-25-50 though so yeah.

What if we didn't win the game the other night when two perfect passes went off his stick on our 5 on 3? We put him in the best position possible and he still didn't get it done. Don't get me wrong. I hope and pray he scores 40 this year! As an avid hockey fan I've watched him for years and really disliked the signing. I hope he proves me wrong!

Only problem I had with him tonight was the double minor.

I want him to succeed. Of course I want him to succeed. I am a Flames fan first and foremost. I would never want to come on this forum and brag about a failure on our team. I'm just upset with the signing and the outcome so far. I know many of you guys know James Neal as a player and what he's accomplished.
I know we needed finishers this year after last year's debacle of never finishing. I just think he wasn't the answer. My opinion. I want him to succeed. I just really think he won't

Reason they acquired James Neal via free agency? He scores 20 goals a season.
Placement on list of worries? Low

This.
When your only scoring 20to 30 goals a year there is 62 to 52 games your not scoring.
