Updates on Skicross injuries:

Del Bosco - Canada - broke his Pelvis. Ouch!

Terence Tchiknavorian - France - fractured shin. The report I saw didn't say compound fracture but I'm pretty sure that was the case.

Christoph Wahrstoetter - Austria - concussion.

I think the majority of Canadians are feeling quite a bit of empathy towards the Homan rink thanks to that Colleen Jones interview.

Ouch. Those are nasty injuries. It’s a fun sport to watch but I wonder if the authorities are willing to accept that degree of injury moving forward.

It's exciting as hell but a competition where three competitors are seriously hurt and carried away on stretchers in the space of 30 minutes is really not OK.

Well, Damian Cox is defending Colleen Jones, so that says a lot...

At least it's not like Vancouver where they killed an Olympian and then turned around and blamed it on him less than a day later.

Just watched the Canada/Finland game on PVR this morning. That 3rd period was an absolute masterclass on how to play with a lead. Great job by Canada.

Was listening to the game on the radio, i initially thought the Finns scored since I didn't know who Neroux is and Noro sounded like a Finnish last name to me. When the pbp guy said "Maxime Neroux" i was like yes! Maxime isn't a Finnish name!

BCS is not underfunded and is among the tops in the playing field. BCS doesn't choose which runners to put on a sled.

A race comes down to start, driving and set up. Set up wasn't there these days. It happens because it can be a guessing game. Perhaps the track conditions changed a bit from training. Training results were much different for most sleds.

As of Rissling and De Bruin - they finished pretty much where it was expected.
The only thing I asserted with any certainty was that gear was the deciding factor - something that you, and the CBC analyst seem to agree with.

For why that was, I saw three possibilities, which I laid out. Either someone picked wrong ("the team", i.e. setup), picking right wasn't an option due to resources ("the program"), or picking right wasn't an option due to availability and exclusitivity ("the playing field").

You seem to be saying that issue was runner choice, implying that they had available runners that would've had their sled as fast as the Germans' and USA's. You haven't provided enough support for me to have total confidence in that, but your opinion does lean towards one of the possibilities I stated.

So, I don't really see anything in my post that wasn't fair to say, even accounting for yours.
