Well that was no fun at all, but I'm not worried. Just burn the tape and move on.

Flames are a good team. They'll bounce back and the pucks will eventually start going in, starting on Wednesday. Smith will likely get the start in that one, and I have a feeling he's gonna have a strong game.

Better team except in goal and ability to finish chances. To me that makes Calgary the 2nd best team on the ice.

If I recall correctly the Ducks were pretty determined to trade him out of the West.

Yeah. I wish say that something just not right with the players on the ice. They're a bit lost lately even in the 7 game win streak. Pretty confident it's just the dog days of the season taking its toll a bit. But I do hope they turn it around in the final 10 games of the year. See , I think the trick is to go cold now and roll in to your first series hot. Timing your surge is key. So if we look flat for a bit longer and still scrape out a few W's before you turn it on. All the better.

I'll be worried if they stumble out of the regular season and into their first round series.

Goaltending is our Achillies. Man that was an awful 2 games from both goalies.

Thought Hamonic had an awful game.

1st line needs to realize the all-start break was a month ago.

This is true but let’s worry about the summer and next season in June.

Like Flash said the focus needs to be on THIS SEASON..

Its not like the Leafs had some great finish...most of their goals were either flukes or pucks that should never go in.

goal tending obviously Rittich was the second best on the ice

So much working against the Flames tonight. Andersson, bounces, bad calls, lackadaisical play after the 1st. 1st goal wouldn't have happened if Backlunds stick wasn't being held by Marleau. The 3rd was kicked in. The Flames effort dropped after the 1st.

Leafs had a better offer on the table than the flames could offer (higher pick). Burke has told that story publicly. It is a shame.

Goaltending is a massive whole in this organization.

My bad. I thought the point of being fortunate enough to afford season tickets (I know I couldn’t afford them if I lived in Calgary) was to go out and support your local team and enjoy live NHL hockey not to sell the tickets and “maximize value” and make a profit.

No, they did not. It looked like a relentless, fast-paced push to me in the second period.

Yeah the Flames had the puck almost the entire second period...not sure what some people are smoking

You can blame the goal tending or lack of finish, seems silly to say they quit when they controlled the play

Flames 4 biggest issues going into the playoffs (and all are rather key to winning the cup):

- Goaltending
- 2nd line RW (Frolik)
- 1st pairing RD (Brodie)
- Lack of physicality

Possible solutions:

- Goaltending: None really, just pray 1 of the 2 get hot
- I do not care if Frolik has been good with Backs/Chucky in the past, he is terrible. Put him on the 4th line and reward somebody who can actually maintain a cycle/make a pass
- Brodies minutes need to be sheltered, he is not the dman he once was. Gio plays against the other teams top lines, sticking Brodie out there makes his job a lot tougher. I wouldn't mind seeing if Anderson/Gio has some momentum down the stretch.
- Hoping the intensity of the playoffs makes this team realize they actually have to punish and finish every check, to win

Totally, but I'm not gonna judge this team too harshly or think that major pieces need to be moved. They're a deep, talented team, and with a stud #1 goalie they're frightening.

One of those games that's not worth reading too much into. The only takeaway I've got from the last couple of games is the Flames need to get back to a bit more disciplined play. Way too loose on D, which could be a big problem in the playoffs.

Otherwise, this was basically a game of bad bounces, relatively poor finishing, and a good goalie in blue and white.

Beyond goal tending if Brodie is your biggest problem you have a pretty good team

Leafs had dmen playing way worse than Brodie tonight, their goalie just bailed them out

The next two games will define this team's identity. I don't feel good playing Vegas because they are bigger and stronger. Our first line which is at a funk right now, will be even less efficient against Vegas. And their goalie is much better than ours.

I do hope I am wrong though.

Don’t think sitting Brodie is the answer but I’d love a full game of Andersson-Gio as the top pair and Brodie-Valimaki at the bottom.
