How there is no Giordano for Hart trophy talk is beyond me.

Guy should be right up there with Kucherov in the discussion no questions asked.

It amuses me that virtually every ATL now contains a fan of the other team posting something along the lines of, "I speak Italian. His name means bread-eater."

Funny how that works. If he was playing for the Maple Laughs or Habitant Soups, not only would be at the top of the Hart and Norris discussions, he would also be easily acclaimed as our next Prime Minister...

If the Flames go 4-4 down the stretch the Sharks will have to go 7-1 to pass them. Completely in the drivers seat now. Hope the boys can hold on.

Also, I think that goal from Gio tonight should be the final nails in the coffins of other Norris hopefuls. That man does it all. He just willed that puck into the net.

IMO the Norris should not be eligible for a defenceman that is offense only.

Easy way to measure a Dman's defensive ability? PK time, especially relative to their teammates.

Offensively:
1. Burns: 13G + 63A = 76 points
2. Giordano: 15G + 54A = 69 points
3. Rielly: 20G + 48A = 68 points

Defensively:
1. Giordano: 200 SH minutes (#1 on Calgary, 52 minutes more than #3 Brodie)
2. Burns: 145 SH minutes (#3 on San Jose, 20 minutes less than #1 Vlasic)
3. Rielly: 85 SH minutes (#3 on Toronto, 128 minutes less than #1 Hainsey)

Markers I'm hoping to see hit in the final 8 games:

Lindholm 30 goals (needs 3 goals in 8 games)
Gaudreau 40 goals (needs 5 goals in 8 games)
Gaudreau 100 points (needs 8 points in 8 games)
Monahan 80 points (needs 4 points in 8 games)
Tkachuk 80 points (needs 4 points in 8 games)
Giordano 70 points (needs 1 point in 8 games)
Bennett 30 points (needs 4 points in 8 games)
Hathaway 10 goals (needs 1 goal in 8 games)
Rittich 30 wins (needs 4 wins in remaining starts)

Completely agree. Not only does Gio have the offensive numbers to back it up but his defensive game is elite as well. He’s such a huge piece of this team. As good as Reilly and Burns have been this year they just don’t bring it in their own end like Gio does. IMO he’s the perfect candidate to win.

Since I'm pretty much only here when we win, what happened to Neal, is he still on injured reserve?

Feeling like at this point we don't want to mess with chemistry.

Should be back Tomorrow. I can see Czarnik coming out.

I don’t think the third line has any real chemistry right now. So I have no issue mix and matching Jankowski, Bennett, Neal and Czarnik til we find something that clicks.

Might not be necessary if Bennett is day-to-day (left the game with an upper body injury)

might as well give Bennett another rest, since he's obviously not healthy. Czarnik has been fine IMO.

Burns is also given mainly starts in the offensive zone while Gio gets a lot of defensive starts.

Thank you LA! Nice to have a bit of breathing room.

Can't say enough about the team. There was never any doubt when they were down 1-0. Didn't even care a single bit. The Sens D on paper looked brutal. Wow. 8 rookies in the lineup. Shades of the rebuilding Flames a couple seasons ago.

Flames rule.

He quietly having a fantastic season. To match up many times against the other teams' top lines and still lead the league in +/- says a lot about what kind of year he's having. He may not win the Selke this year but he definitely deserves to be a finalist.

edit: Actually 2nd in the league, but the point remains.
