if anybody is interested, Swiss Ramble (a great account for financial matters in football) has put together a fantastic thread about the Glazers' ownership at United. Spoiler alert: it's terribly bad.

Yeah, its not great from a financial perspective, but at the same time its not as though United havent been spending and buying players.
You can be pissed that they're taking money out of the club, but its not as though the money left in the club to spend on player recruitment has been all that wisely spent either.
Overall, I dont think 'money' is the root of all of United's problems.

which is because they failed to establish a clear and modern structure behind the scenes. It all goes hand in hand.
the frustrating thing is knowing that this club, in theory, has everything needed to dance with the big guns in world football on a regular basis, but falls short because the owners only care about their own pockets and allow incompetence to poison the club from top to bottom.
there might be something brewing behind the scenes for real though. The Telegraph reported earlier that the Glazers are looking to sell a minority stake and bring in another investor ... now Sir Jim Ratcliffe says he wants in.
Musk probably knew something was happening. Thought he was just his usual trolling/attention-seeking, but that tweet is too much of a coincidence given what's been reported today.

Ornstein says ajax turned down an offer of 80m for Antony
I dont know which club is nuttier, cause that price is crazy and ajax could buy an entire lineup with that money
We don't need the money and we don't need to buy a lineup.
Our team is fine with or without Antony.
Plus, the pond that Ajax is fishing in is young, talented and upcoming players.
They usually don't have an 80m+ pricetag so if there was a replacement available we already would have made a move.
Problem is that there are dozens of teams that are fishing in the same pond.
For sure we could make a 100 million bid for Haaland or Nunez or Lewandowski or Bellingham... but they don't want to play in the Eredivisie (and I get that)
I don't know if it's a saying in English but overhere we say 'Te groot voor het servet, te klein voor het tafellaken' (Too big for the napkin, too small for the table cloth)
About Antony; his stats aren't that great but he is a special player. He's the type of player you come to see in the stadiums.
I was at the Ajax - Groningen match last sunday and he was spectacular.
I prefer to keep Antony over 80m. 100m I understand you can't say no to.
Ten Hag is starting to annoy me. The only reason he's in the PL now is because of Ajax.
It was a huge gamble when he was appointed manager by Ajax in 2018.
I know there's no such thing as loyalty in football and it's a dog eat dog world, but he already took Ajax' best player, pushed hard for Timber and now he's making Antony's head go crazy.
Antony skipped training today for unknown reasons.
Emotions aside, United has a much bigger problem than Antony can solve for them.
If I were to spent 80 - 100 million I would spent it on different assets.
See video. I don't see him getting the opportunity to make these moves in the Premier League.
I prefer to see him at Bayern (next season )
the fee is madness, but United are desperate and with their current midfield options they had little choice. Can't fault his pedigree and in terms of style/profile he should actually be a better fit than de Jong. And really, after being linked to the Arnautovics, Rabiots and Meuniers of this world, I'll happily take a class player like him, even if he costs a lot and is 30 years old. Should still have 3-4 good years in him.
Real is a brilliantly run club though. They stock up on talent before the big-name players actually decline, don't shy away from eventually letting them go (Ronaldo, Ramos, Varane, Casemiro) and hardly miss a beat because those young talents are then ready to fill the gap.
That was a beautiful goal. And impressive how long they kept that chant going.

Pretty happy with the start for Spurs this season. We looked alright against Wolves today and the second half was better than the first. Seven points from a possible nine is pretty good, given that Chelsea away was one of those three games. It’s even better considering those were all losses last year and we’re +7 in comparison to last year.
I think we’re coming along and hopefully keep things rolling against Forest next weekend.
