Honestly not much else Coronato could do there. He committed to the one timer, which unfortunately requires you to project the shot and the shot itself takes a while to get off. Just a great stick by the Czech player.
Looks like a one-timer would have actually been the play there. Instead he settled the puck before shooting giving the defenseman time to get his stick in the way.

The one timer takes no time to get off. What he did was the opposite of the one timer.

Would have been tough to one-time that pass that far behind him.
Agreed, I don't think the one times was actually there. I was really responding to the suggestion that a one timer takes time, when in reality the sole purpose of the one times is to give the goalie the least amount of time to get over to cover the net.
At the end of the day, the shooter taking some time to settle the puck gave the dman about a 5% or less chance of stopping the play. It was more bad luck the puck didn't go in. The net was still largely empty.

Yeah I think that's a high percentage goal situation that the Czech defender just happened to successfully pull off the only chance he had to prevent it.
EDIT: Watching again the pass was a bit too far out of his reach to really get a good one-timer off. It was just a bit too high up for his wheelhouse.

Fair enough. Posting late at night. I agree the ouch was slightly behind, so he had to settle it a little before shooting. Looked like he was pretty quick on that but not quite quick enough.
The pass was behind Coronato so a one-timer was not an option, I think he made a great play and got the shot off really quickly, most of the time that's in the net, but the dman just made an even better play
I think he wanted the one-timer, but when the pass was behind instead of continuing to try for immediate shot IMO he should have waited one second. He had enough space that he could have received the puck and potentially made a quick inside step (though, he may have already had too much momentum towards the net to achieve this move). Anyways, good play but IMO he sinks that goal by this time next year with a bit more experience under his belt.
