I could see him being a leading candidate for the Flames job if management decides not to continue with Ward.

If Calgary were to hire Laviolette (and honestly, I think they should), I'd be surprised if Ward didn't stick around in his old role. I think he's a good guy to have around and I think Treliving is a fan.

Flames should be all over this ASAP. But knowing them they won’t and some other team will snatch him up.

Always been a big fan on Laviolette so if we could add him I would be pretty stoked.

The Flames owners won't spend the money to get Laviolette.

Ward is doing a good job, but Laviolette is a great coach. I am excited to see how this plays out

Not necessarily disagreeing with you, but Laviolette's salary on his first five-year deal in Nashville was reportedly $2 million per season, one of the lowest publicized figures in the league and roughly equal with Bill Peters' salary here in Calgary.

I don't believe the salary figure was reported for his two-year extension, which came into effect this season.

I would not be in a rush to hire Laviolette. I think Ward earned the chance to finish out the year. I don't see the coach as the problem.

Not surprising. Preds are underachieving big time right now. Not sure how I’d feel if Calgary hired him. He’s a good coach but something about him rubs me the wrong way.

Peter Laviolette has been to a cup final in Philadelphia, Nashville, and Carolina since the 04 lockout. He'd IMO be an upgrade on Geoff Ward.

Are you serious? Top coaches don't just come around every day. If you aren't going to jump on this opportunity then you'll always be hiring second tier coaches. You take it when you get it, no questions asked.

Ward vs Laviolette aren't even in the same conversation
