Well deserved Gio. Not just the longevity and consistency, but the fantastic year of offence, defense, and leadership.
His d partners and coaching staff, who brought in the up tempo and agressive system, have to be recognized as well. And BT who got rid of the red haired shackle from last year that held him back.
Also, TSN manufacturing the fact that him and Reilly were anywhere close in voting, as late as after Christmas, goes to show you how the media, for whatever reason(as a favour to the player, agent, or club, for future considerations) tries to affect the narrative and sway conversation.

Well, yeah, that's what I meant of course. Funny, Orr was only about 15 at the time of the first draft but he was signed at 14 by Boston.

God damn, he dummied everyone else. Surprised at the margin of victory.

Best defensemen in the NHL from start to finish, just not good enough for the All-Star game.

Amazing story.
One of handful of undrafted kids Craig Button signed and lent out to the Lowell Lock Monsters because there was no Flames farm team.

The percentage of first place votes for Gio is unreal. I thought he'd win without a problem but didn't expect that it would almost be unanimous.

Dammit, I had thankfully forgotten all that nonsense. Now my brief happiness has been replaced by rage that the NHL persistently induces in me.

Gio was hands down the obvious choice, but I'm shocked the voters felt so as well.

I predicted a landslide, I was really trying not to be biased, good to see the rest of the hockey world saw what we saw all season. Just a great all around year for Gio. Awesome.

You could see the pride in Mark's parent's faces. His dad was fighting back tears.

Almost unanimous. Those voting numbers were unbelievable.
