Ducks buy out Corey Perry
Frank Seravalli @frank_seravalli
#NHLDucks are in the process of finalizing paperwork to buy out Corey Perry this morning. Perry is not expected to be placed on waivers, by virtue of his no-move clause. Big name for the #FreeAgentFrenzy list. #TSN
Cap hit for the buyout:
19/20 - $2.625 mil
20/21 - $6.625 mil
21/22 - $2 mil
22/23 - $2 mil

Unfortunately Perry has fallen off a cliff these last two seasons. His scoring has been bad. His analytics have been worse.

Only if it’s to keep him out of Edmonton. They’ll gift him top line minutes and he’s annoying as hell to play against.

The annoying as hell to play against is exactly why I’d take him at the right price.

I would think he takes the Brad Richards special for a team he wants to play on. Might even be Chicago...

So Perry gave the Ducks about 5 teams he was willing to go to.
Pierre LeBrun @PierreVLeBrun
Ducks only had 4-6 teams to work with trade-wise as per Perry’s list - he had a full no-move. Anaheim couldn’t find a trade partner so buyout it is.

He was on the IR from September 26 until February 2, which far exceeds the 100 day minimum required for him to be eligible to sign a one-year contract with Performance Bonuses on it.
I wouldn't be opposed to the Flames signing him to a bonus-heavy contract to see if he can find his game again and stay healthy.
There will probably be a few teams who offer him a multiyear deal with guaranteed money, so a bonus-heavy deal likely won't be of interest to him.

Too injury prone, too slow. No thanks. His best days are far behind him.

They’d probably get into fights over whose turn it was to ‘accidentally’ fall on the opposition goalie. 👏👏
