Including 83% HDCF in the 3rd that was all Calgary. A third when they were tied. A third when they could have wilted like they have in the past after a late 2nd period goal.

He is arguably my favorite flame but needs to pick his battles better. This is a non-discussion if it is 99% of other players. You can actually see that the guy is holding his stick because he lets go of it and its being held up.... any clips of it before the stick is being held onto? I am curious if he brings it in or if its caught in the mess beforehand with no ill intention.

honestly if Smith made 47 saves and the Flames won in the SO would you feel any better?
2 points is better than 1 but I think I prefer this right now (both would be nice)
Team needs to play like this most nights for long term success

This team can't score because they don't get enough quality scoring chances. And thats because this team doesn't have the leeway to play fast. Playing fast is coming at the expense of Corsi. Lots of shots is coming at the expense of quality shots.
|
Flames had quite a few opportunities where pucks weren't cleanly recieved and shot. Those extra half-seconds took away a lot of shot quality that they might have had but that's not a big systematic issue.

Flames 1 - Leafs 2 (SO)
Nice and refreshing to see only a couple anti-GG posters imitating Simple Jack.
That was an excellent game, and save for an extremely good goalie it would have been an easy 2 points. Nice to see Hammer and TJ have a good game too. Let’s get more of that.

Sometimes you get a whole bunch of shots, but they're mostly from the perimeter, and mislead everyone into thinking it was a dominant performance. The Philly game was like that.
This game was not. The Flames were in fact pretty dominant, and played a great road game. Very deserving of two points. And the Leaf goal was very fortunate.
Anyone that thinks the stat of 30 scoring chances for the Leafs was anything other than a typo, is on crack. 20? Sure. But not 30.

That's exactly the type of game we want them to start playing. There was no big ugly defensive mistakes tonight. They need to string a few more of them together to get this D corps some confidence.
And boring? i think we were watching different games if you found that game boring.

Exactly right! Just keep it coming that way and they will be fine even if another opposing goalie stands on his head. That was one determined team tonite. Just did not get the bounces.
Liked the repeated rolling of our 1st line for offensive zone starts even out of turn with all the icing calls on the Leafs. GG mixing it up a bit.
A flukey goal in the 3rd by the Leafs would have been tragic. A point I will take to build off of.
The Flames core has learned something vital tonite. Play that style of defence and we will win many regardless of opposition.

I don't know how anyone thinks that game was boring.
As for the D, the ones that I thought had really good games:
Giordano
Hamilton
Brodie
Hamonic
Kulak
Stone
I thought Hamonic had one of his best games of the year. And Kulak just keeps getting better.
Also, love the continued progression of Jankowski and Bennett

It is a Flames win tonight as we did not give up a a single breakaway chance. In the last game I counted three in the first 2 periods. I am positive, and pessimistically optimistic.

Enjoyed that game.
Good effort, ran into a hot goalie. Much better game than last leaf game.
Can't ask for much better as a fan except for the non calls. Tkachuk is probably getting a game.

Even though the Flames lost tonight, I love it that Janko was pissed at the Leafs and was ready to drop the gloves.

Was saying to myself that damn does Toronto ever remind me of the Redwing teams of years past with all of the interference and grabbing. Than Babcock dawned on me. Holy hell do they ever get away with a lot.
I'll take that effort and execution every game of the year. Much better than the past few games.
Really stratification like Bennett and Jankowski together, solid game fun that line. Jankowski is rounding into a beauty.

Flames play well: GG coached well.
Flames play poor: GG coached poor.
A lot of posters on here are jokes.
Very good game. Stajan has actually looked pretty good with Brouwer.

Leafs should add yellow to their colour scheme and start a car, what a game by the Flames! Janko looked amazing live, so big and mobile, he creates lanes on the rush. I thought the 4th line was used a little too much but played inspired hockey, Brouwer had a solid game. I liked the Brodie/Hamonic pairing tonight, simple plays, very controlled game by them and the rest of the D. Smith looked amazing a couple times and had my heart jump with the Marleau crossbar late but the Flames owned tonight’s pace overall. Next year we are winning here dammit!!
