yes, but they always look at team success when it comes to Ballon d'Or. I think it's stupid too, but that's how it's always been ... and neither Barcelona in the CL nor Argentina at the WC did anything special this year.
which "stats" are you talking about? Because goals and assists mean nothing when it comes to a midfielder.
he was a key player in another CL victory and took Croatia to a WC final. I really don't know what else he could have done. I think you could argue that Varane would have deserved it as well, but I think Modrics impact was a lot bigger.
I don’t even think he was the best midfielder at the World Cup, Varane was key in both and he won it. Again, I’m not saying he isn’t a great mid fielder but if you are going to say stats don’t matter than Varane deserved it more.
^^Yeah and that's why Pogba is somehow 15th despite being pretty invisible for most of United's season, especially the second half. It's an individual awarded that's determined by team success. That's one area where baseball mostly gets it right because often (like this year) you'll see guys on losing teams even win awards.

Modrics stats don’t speak for themselves.He was very good in the World Cup but I didn’t think it warranted winning a Ballon D’or. His season so far this year has been pretty uneventful while Madrid continues to struggle. If accolades are all that matter than many players of past year have gotten robbed of the award. Many had a much better case than Modric.

I clearly did point out players who deserved it more, if you were not so offended you would’ve read the players I believed were better.

Socceroos defender Rhyan Grant has confirmed Football Federation Australia had to have his ‘mullet’ haircut approved ahead of the Asian Cup.
The United Arab Emirates Football Association bans unusual haircuts or colourings.
But the Asian Cup is run under AFC rules, with Grant’s mullet given the tick of approval.
“I heard that — I thought they were taking the mick a bit,” Grant told Fox Sports News’ Daniel Garb.
“But apparently it was legit that they don’t like ordinary haircuts over here so they had to get the tick of approval.
“So thankfully for me — probably not thankfully for everyone else — that I get to keep it but nah yeah it was a little bit of a laugh but I’m keeping it for now.”

I am glad I didn't bother staying up the other night to watch Australia and Uzbekistan play 120 scoreless minutes. Looks like the penalties were exciting though and damn is Mat Ryan ever good at goalkeeping.
The Quarter Finals are set: Japan v Vietman, Iran v China, South Korea v Qatar, and Australia v UAE.
