With the way Treliving talked about Smid's injury status update yesterday, he's out indefinitely. He used the words "tests", "reflection" in regard to Smid. No guarantee we ever see him again. So trading him is completely out it sounds like.

Engelland I think would have good value. Problem is he's the one vet you'd like to keep if you were able to move Russell and Wideman and move Smid to IR. I think people might be shocked at his return (in the positive way) if we did choose to move him this deadline.

Wideman is tricky with his NMC and appeal. But the 20 games is almost over. I wouldn't rule that out completely. I suspect he's more likely to move in the summer.

Nakladal I think we might be looking to re-sign. Getting capable defensemen at 1 million or less will help our cap situation. Guys like Wotherspoon, Nakladal and Kulak will now have their salary as a positive reason to keep them up next year. Especially if we can't move Wideman before the start of the next season.

I watched Nakladal closely during the last couple of games. Kinda like the guy. Working hard on ice. Doesn't cheat. Wouldn't mind seeing him re-signed.

Loved Hathaway last training camp. Speedy, big, hit everything that moved, had some hands. I thought he was NHL ready to play our 4th line RW last fall.
