Anyone that willingly drops the gloves has to realize getting knocked out is a possibility. I don't blame Ovechkin at all here. I'm pretty positive Jarome Iginla would have done the same thing if challenged to a fight in a hotly contested playoff series.
I remember when Engelland fought Iginla, it looked like at the start he wasn't trying hard, and then realized quickly he was in trouble, as Iginla started letting him have it.
And it isn't like Ovi fights regularly, he basically got called into the fight, and unexpectedly destroyed the kid. People are acting like he is a goon beating up kids.

You know what they say about assumptions.....
It's not a great feeling when you knock someone out and certainly not something I would celebrate or be proud of.

As someone who's had his clock cleaned more than once, I hope the kid is ok and learns from this. Stick to your game of putting up points and don't pretend to be tough. I'm willing to bet this is Svech's first and last fight ever.
Ovi is a beast, he probably could hold his own against a lot of guys in the league. The guy used to be just a goal scorer and that was it, now he's playing an all around game and even fighting...I don't even see him slowing down any time soon and I hope he's in the NHL for long time.
Both guys seem to be good and I hope they are both going to move on from this.

Disagree. Ovi has been a human wrecking ball since he entered the league. Still remember being in Vancouver and seeing him destroy Jagr open ice in the Olympics.

In a situation like this? It’s not the same as if you are a boxer or an MMA fighter who just won a knockout fight, or a fight on the street that soneone started with you and your happy to have escaped on the right side of it.
I’m sure Ovy’s heart was in his mouth when he saw the kid knocked out.

Yea, its odd, there are not too many athletes that get bigger, faster, and more agressive as they get into their mid 30s. I wonder why.
