Default Brunei, a country going backwards.

Starting April 3rd Brunei will punish gay sex and adultery with death by stoning.

Maybe everyone should just stop buying their oil and watch them whither back to the stone age, since that seems to be their goal. Isn't this worth international sanctions?

Sure. But then there's Saudi Arabia et al. Lots of crazy states follow the "divine path".

Well ya, Saudi too. Maybe if the world had been tougher on them, countries like Brunei would have thought twice before trying this garbage. Instead they see Saudi get away with it, and see there are no repercussions to being horrible.

Clearly what the good people of Brunei are teaching us is that perhaps we have too many rights....

I'm sure Eastern Canada is in a frenzy trying to figure out how to get more Brunei oil.

It was a shot at the current liberal government as I feel they are driving the country into the ground

The reality is that a lot of countries have a ways to go regarding LGBT rights. Brunei just so happens to be particularly barbaric. In 2018, there were 78 countries where homosexuality was still illegal, 8 of which where it's punishable by death under sharia law. This is a global problem, and I really hope leaders start taking it more seriously. It should absolutely be called out for exactly what it is: barbaric and regressive. No hiding behind religion or culture, this kind of thing has got to stop.
