Yeah suggesting a team is going to run an offense without any receivers in 2021 surely wasn't meant in jest. Besides the Patriots and Florida TE's? We already know how that movie ends.

For all the QB talk the reality is that most of them all bust. I get that you have to try but every year we get excited about the QB's and once they are out of their rookie deals most of them are holding clipboards or out of the league. The bust rate for for 1st round QB's is considerably higher than any other position which is why I hate the idea for trading up to get one even though I understand why teams do it.

The rookie cap changed it all. Sam Bradford got 6 years and $78 million the last year before it came in. If you had to give that to any of the QBs outside Trevor, would you really want to? If there was no rookie cap I would expect only two, maybe three QBs in the first round. Now this year is a lock for at least five QBs, and with the fifth year option for any first round pick would it really be a shock to see someone take Kyle Trask at the end of the first round? System is broken, but with the cap going up for the foreseeable future and the GMs taking the risks not having to deal with the mess of any trades (because they'll be fired), it's probably not stopping anytime soon.

This would be why Zach Wilson is locked into the #2 slot.

Some interesting stats.
Tough because of the system he played in and the receivers he was playing with but based on numbers along Jones was phenomenal.

Jones might end up being a good QB, but he's very tough to judge. 49ers again make the most sense for basically any of the QBs because they have an elite offensive mind and an easy system to run. I honestly think the 49ers will keep Garoppolo for next year and let Fields/Lance develop. Can still be competitive with Garoppolo while giving the rookie time to learn the Shanahan offense, then year two they are ready to roll.

It's tough going just off stats with college QB's because they don't all face the same level of competition and some play on stacked teams. If you just went off the college stats Jones looks like an all time great prospect. He could be the steal of the draft but a lot of these guys just don't translate when they face NFL defenses every week.

NFL is expected to expand the regular season schedule this week to 17 games. The league had played a 16-game regular season schedule since 1978, by far the longest stretch without a change in NFL history.

Odd number of games seems weird although it does guarantee that teams will finish with either a winning or losing season. No more of that 8-8 "we aren't losers" crap.

I'm all for the extra game but it adds a wrinkle to scheduling since the current formula works nicely. Quick Google search tells me the extra game will be as follows:
"The cross-conference match-ups will be based on the cross-conference division that each team played two years ago. Each team will play one opponent from that division that finished in the same spot in the prior year's standings." And the conferences will alternate who is hosting each year, with the AFC hosting initially.

I has to be that way so you don’t have teams battling in their conference where some get an extra home date and others have to play on the road. Alternating conferences is the only way to level the playoff field in each conference.

17 games means there will be an imbalance between home and away games (unless they are planning one neutral site game for every team?).

I always thought it made too much sense for the 17th game to be a neutral site game, either in London or Toronto or Mexico City or wherever. This way no one loses a home game anymore, and maybe we can send some non-POS games to London instead of the Jags nonstop.

Three more women have filed lawsuits accusing Deshaun Watson of sexual assault, bringing the number of complaints against the Houston Texans quarterback to 19.
Another lawsuit could come soon, as the lawyer representing the women, Tony Buzbee, announced on Instagram Saturday that he had filed his 20th civil case against Watson. Buzbee has said his team would be submitting affidavits and evidence from “several women” to the Houston Police Department and Harris County District Attorney’s Office, but Watson doesn’t currently face criminal charges.
All but one of the 19 lawsuits currently viewable on the Harris County district clerk’s website involve plaintiffs who say they were contacted for massage appointments in 2020 and 2021. The other does not include a date in its complaint. Watson allegedly first made contact with most of the women via Instagram. One lawsuit posted Monday morning alleges “Watson is deleting Instagram messages, and contacting those who formally provided him massages, in an attempt to settle.”

The Mac Jones talk is just to have something to talk about because we're in dead season between FA and the draft. There is no way in hell the 49ers gave up three premium picks for a guy who they might have been able to draft at the spot they originally had. That would make the Trubisky trade up one of the great trades ever in comparison.
