Gruden is a mediocre coach at best. His track record tells you that. Good for him to squeeze $100 million out of the Raiders because he won a Super Bowl with Dungy's team and was a third rate Madden on MNF. But his track record is a coach in the 15-25 range of best coaches in the league. But you are stuck with him for at least three more years even if you go 0-16 each year, so I guess you gotta believe in him because there's no other choice.
So when he won that super bowl with Dungys team who did he beat....
Also that Dungy team who went from
9-7 with a +46 point differential in 01 with dungy
To
12-4 with +150 point differential with gruden
Again, lazy

The point with Dungy is Gruden inherited an already good team, he didn't really have to do much to make them contenders, and yeah no doubt he led them to a Super Bowl. And when he had to make his own team after the Dungy team faded away? Yeah, they sucked. If you're happy with Gruden as coach then awesome. I'm sure the other three teams in your division are thrilled with him as well.
Like I mostly feel sorry for Raider fans because it's not a joke that Gruden can go 0-51 for the next three years and he's safe. Disadvantages of a poor owner giving an abysmal contract.

Gruden has made the playoffs 3 times in his last 10 seasons as a head coach and has only 4 winning seasons in that same span. Why are we even trying to pretend his Super Bowl win was any less of a one-hit wonder than Doug Pederson's was?
Also, if you look at the years Gruden had success, it was usually on the back of a good defense. For supposedly being such an offensive wizard, he's only had 4 top 10 offenses in 14 seasons as a HC, and only 5 over his coaching career as a whole.
He's Brian Billick with more charisma and better marketing.
He followed up his SB win with three seasons our of four with a losing record, including two DFLs. His career record is barely over .500. If you didn't know his name, and just posted his career numbers and season numbers, you'd say mediocre coach. But he was popular on MNF by loving every QB ever and saying "This <fill in the players name> guy" a bunch. But again, honestly, good for him getting $100 million. Just glad it ain't with my team.

He played against a team in the super bowl he built...
So if you are saying it was dungys team, he was coaching against 'his' team that he built.
Also the poor owner thing, is more just lazy twitter meme narrative that you post, since the move to vegas the value of the franchise has doubled to over 3 billion.
The value of the franchise has nothing to do with cash lol. You think Mark Davis has $60 million to use to fire Gruden if they go 4-12 this year? Lol come on, he needed cash help to even build the stadium in Vegas.

Now which QB do the Texans draft that steals the starting QB job from Taylor?
At least the Chargers just stabbed him in the ribs and collapsed his lung and said sorry dude..our bad.
I shutter to think what the Texans will do to him so they can send a pastor to the Hospital to try and revive him from his death bed and try to convince him this was the work of god.

Speaking of numb, Allen Robinson....can we get this man a top 30 QB to throw him the ball at some point? Obviously he won't be signing his franchise tag unless it comes with a trade.
Yup. This is clearly turned into a rebuild year and AR us maybe the most under rated WR in the league and highest valued player on the team
In the past 2 seasons lining up for Trubisky/Daniel and Trubisky/Foles Robinson has accumulated 200 catches for 2300+ yards.
DeAndre Hopkins is the only other WR with higher totals in that time.
Sign and trade him for a 1st round pick and start the 2nd rebuild
Schefter posted how the five biggest FA Super Bowl winners did the following season. And it makes sense right? How often does a great team have tons of cap space? It's usually up and comers or crappy teams.
Spending big in free agency rarely ever leads to winning which is why the Patriots spending this season has been so bizarre.
I think it's fine to do it every few years, especially when you hoard comp picks like they have. The only head scratcher to me is Newton. Adding quality WRs and TEs via free agency is great if you have a competent QB, but ...

IMO there are several head scratchers. They overpaid for pretty well every player. They are well coached so I see some of these players being okay but for the $130+ million they spent I don't think they got a single elite player.

The 130+ million is an exaggeration, they still have close to $29 million in cap space after signing Newton, Mills, Wise, Agholor, Judon, Godchaux, Smith, Bourne, Henry & Anderson. The contracts always look huge in the NFL until all of the details are released.

I think most of us realize that it always comes down to guaranteed money and signing bonuses but they gave out a lot of guarantees with these deals. I don't have issues with overpaying a player or two in free agency if you are getting players that are at the top of their position but I don't think any of these players are what I would call that. I think the Patriots could make a run for the playoffs but their chances largely depend on if the Bills are for real or take a step back and they certainly aren't going to get to a Super Bowl with Newton as QB.
