It really is amazing how well it holds up against everything else. If it wasn't so good, the MCU doesn't exist.
I think if it was half as good, we would have still gotten phase 1.
We might even have gotten a very different version of phase 2 that looked a lot more like Iron-man 3 & Dark World. But the level of success let them do crazy things like Guardians & Dr Strange. Those movies succeeding the way the did really accelerated the ambition, speed and scale of the MCU to the point they could grab Spidermans rights, release 8 properties / year. Do the infinity war justice. There is certainly a world where they would have had trouble doing all of that.

This will be the only Marvel movie since Guardians where I have no prior knowledge of the characters at all. Should I do any background reading on Shang-Chi or just go in blind?
Dennis Dun's character in the greatest superhero movie of all time, was Wang Chi. He used the exact same hand gestures that are used on the bus in this clip. A bus! I am going to assume that Shang Chi is his brother, and this officially will make Big Trouble in Little China MCU canon.

The "ten rings" in the title is a reference to the ten different rings that the Mandarin wears.
Wonder if Raza in Iron Man was a ring holder, or how that'll play into Shang-Chi. It's not Marvel's style to ignore continuity like that, so I expect it will come up.
I didn't like it very much. I think they were going for an old style cartoon aesthetic but if so they went to far, the animation was very poor, especially the characters. Dead eyes and no emotions.
The voice acting was like they got people off the street to read the lines.
And I don't know if it was the directing or editing but someone hasn't seen how people talk before. It isn't read a line, wait 3 seconds, read another line, wait 5 seconds, read a line.
If the story was good enough I could deal with it but I don't think it was.
It had a few mildly entertaining bits and cool parts, but 4/10 overall.

Any average civilian in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has probably led a more exciting life than someone in the real world, but even by that standard, Bucky Barnes’s MCU life story has been a wild ride.
Considering how old Bucky Barnes is, the Winter Soldier’s MCU history covers more action and loss than anyone else in the franchise. In a saga chock-full of unique experiences and perspectives, James Buchanan Barnes’s story is truly one of a kind.
I'm really looking forward to this one. The comic series is fantastic.
It looks like they've taken a slightly lighter tone with the series which should make it more accessible to everyone. Toning down the animal features of their faces was likely a budget decision but also makes them a little more accessible to the audience.
