God damn, Askren came in as a joke. Didn't expect him to be that overweight. I wanna see a legit boxer shut Paul up but it doesn't seem like he's interested in fighting anyone legit.

Paul channels Trump “how many more times I have to prove myself?”

Like saying something makes it true.

Anyone with any vision saw that fight as as a farce. What a joke.

If dude is seriously delusional that he is a serious fighter he is going to get knocked out as soon as he faces one.

Watched Whittaker vs Gastelum, then saw the Askren vs Paul result. Glad I didn't waste any time watching that. Meh, in a real fight Askren knows he would maul him. I was hoping he would get some redemption after the Masvidal KO but he's probably just happy that he got a good payday out of this.

It's amazing how much Askren accomplished in MMA despite being the one-trick pony that he was. Amazing wrestler, possibly the worst striker ever.

Only bad thing about this will be all the little kids talking about how that Youtube ####stain is the best boxer ever.

The fight was held at cruiserweight. I have a hard time believing paul would beat a high level amateur middleweight but on the flipside if he can make more money than pro boxers on these celebrity fights then why wouldnt he?

He plays the villain role to the tee. Mayweather/Mcgegor style. As long as he is getting paid, why be in a rush to move up in competition when you are getting paid to beat on smaller, punching bags. As soon as he loses, his drawing power diminishes.

It seems so unreal seeing a near capacity arena for the UFC fights tonight. I'm not going to lie but I am very envious.

OMG, Weidman breaks his leg just like how Silva broke his against Weidman in their rematch

Absolutely brutal, the replays

That might be it for his career

Man, the leg didn’t only break but you seem the skin split. So gross. I’m sure the UFC doesn’t want any part of that for ratings because it is gross.

They need to make it kicks above the knee only. Because Hall did the exact block you need to do against calf kicks - keep foot down and turn your knee out. The blocking leg’s foot is still planted so it has nowhere to go and all the force goes into the kickers shin - so these injuries will get more common if fighters start blocking calf kicks like this. Hope Wideman makes a speedy recovery as best he can.

Probably the most brutal injury I've ever seen in sports, I'm seriously worried he might lose the leg with how ugly that looked.

Wideman’s career is more or less done unless they give him pity fights like Silva. But Silva was seen as the greatest all time for the longest time so he was a draw. Sucks to end your career like that but Silva has pull. Wideman isn’t quite the name. I doubt he loses the leg or anything based on the medical staff around but it’s going to be hard to recover. Especially mentally.

I don't think anyone can come back from something like that. Absolutely crazy injury.

I don’t think they necessarily need to do that. I’m sure kicks just become more risky and they won’t be thrown that often. So for some period the sport will naturally shift to wrestling and strikes.

You could be right but you sometimes have to protect fighters from themselves. Calf kicks have been becoming more and more common so it’s only natural that people start training the counter to it. That’s the counter - I was shown that exact move in Thailand and it hurts like hell even with a fairly light contact so I’m not shocked at what happened tonight at all. Let’s hope it doesn’t happen again anytime soon. Like i said, hope Wideman can make a good recovery from this.

The female fights have evolved a bit over time but I’m still not a fan of seeing women fight. I get squeamish for some reason.

Valentina is so smart and well-rounded, almost like the GSP of Women's MMA.

If (big if) Zhang wins the next one, then Zhang vs Valentina might happen
