I'm more of a toaster oven guy. There really isn't a meal I typically make (Pizza, Lasagna, Potato casserole, chicken bites, etc) that requires the big oven, and I like being able to change the rack height (i.e. to the bottom shelf to make crust crispy, or broil on the top rack to make top-cheese more golden/crispy-brown. Every time I see an air-fryer, I just think it's too small.
A decent Air Fryer isn't too small for the majority of meals and re-heats you would use it for. Definitely a cheap one with a tiny basket sucks, but that's the same with any appliance - You get what you pay for.

Or just too small a footprint. If I want to do wings I need to be able to spread them out in a single layer. The ones my parents got does that, comes with a nice wire basket that's not very deep but perfect for lots of wings on a single layer, and it flips up to store vertically too.

Yah, it's all about getting a good one. Mine holds 12-15 wings on one layer easy and then you can stack a few if needed. Some of the cheap ones have enough space for like a slice of pizza or 6 wings. I can see how those that got a cheap one would feel they are useless.
I use my toaster oven a ton, almost daily - I don't own a regular toaster. But I do own a microwave, because toaster ovens, like regular ovens, take a lot more time to heat up food.

I tried McCain super crisp straight cut and they were only ok. The preset might have cooked them too long, but was wondering what other brands to try.
The rotisserie basket is the way to go though. Don't have to worry about shaking them half way through. They are fully shook the entire time they are cooking.

I am a convert now. Great salt & pepper chicken wings and calamari in less than 15 min.

Looking for advice and recommendations on air fryers. We’re a household of two so don’t need a big one. Purchase cost isn’t a big issue but I want ease of use and reliability. I’d like to minimize the footprint due to limited counter space, but I guess we could store it off the counter. What do you like and recommend?

The giant bag of Cavendish fries at Costco. I use a Cosori air fryer, so I do the fries at 400F and shake the basket ever 7-8 minutes until the desired crispness is hit.
However, because it's Costco... I also walk away with their brown gravy mix and squeak'rs cheese. I "over fry" the Cavendish fries, add the cheese and gravy and it works awesome for a "poutine".

Make sure your AF can do 200F, so you can make boiled eggs in them. Easiest way by far.
Quick hamburgers. No stove mess.
And... toast! They make perfect toast!

FYI the Cavendish fries in Alberta are Alberta potatoes and processed in Lethbridge so they are technically kind of different from the ones grown in PEI soil.
But my go to is the Cavendish shoe-string. They are ready in 10 minutes in my Microwave + Infrared oven which is even faster than my air fryer.

I can't believe how many people don't have or use toaster ovens.
Some people only have the regular pop-out toasters.
Their poor souls.

Buy a toaster oven combo “air fryer” (convection oven).
