Maybe its just time to get another RS in the lineup and with the AHL allstar game tomorrow IIRC and Gawdin going to it, they just went to the next man fitting that description.
Huge dude as well and the Blues play a very heavy game, so that it wouldn't hurt to play him in that situation either.

I wouldn't say it's that unexpected. It was likely Robinson, Gawdin, or Czarnik.
Czarnik is small, so if they're looking to beef up a bit, Robinson or Gawdin are the better choices.
Ironically, the fact that Gawdin made the AHL All-Star game may have led to Robinson getting the call since they might not have wanted to take away the All Star experience from Gawdin if he's unlikely to play in Calgary.

He will get the same amount of playing time that Davidson and Valiev got.
You never know, it’s a lot more difficult to play with 5 dmen than it is to play with 11 forwards if Buddy looked way out of place and only got 5mins of ice time.
We’ve thrown out 1-2 forwards that are minimal impact players each night so maybe he gets a look.
I’ve like Rieder and Rinaldo in spurts throughout the year but the two of them and Jankowski haven’t solidified a guaranteed roster spot by any means where the other 10 guys have.
