16 years & 10,000 posts, and I'll finally see the Flames live
Had to stop myself from posting for a couple of days, but now that I've got everything booked, I can use post #10,000 to celebrate that after all these years I'm finally going to see the Flames play live
It's obviously something I've wanted for a very long time, but my financial situation just didn't make it possible until now. For a while I was seriously wondering if I could ever scrape up the extra cash for something like this, so now that it's happening it feels so huge that I really wanted to share the news with CP.
It would have been really cool to come all the way to Calgary for this (and possibly meet up with some of you). On the other hand, now that I have an SO who's a Rangers fan, it'll be pretty special to go to New York to see a Flames - Rangers game with her
We're thinking of catching at least one other game while we're there (Flames@Islanders? Flames@Devils? Penguins@Rangers?), but haven't decided on that yet. Obviously lots of other things to see and do in NY too.
In any case, felt like sharing. Go Flames Go

Great story.
Serves as a reminder to those of us that take seeing this team whenever we want to, to not take it for granted.
Enjoy the hell out of the whole experience.

Growing up in Calgary I got to go to countless games, but now that I've lived away from home for 10 years and have only been to 1 NHL game in that time period I've realized how lucky I was. Flames games are probably what I miss most about home.
Soak it in Itse, you never know when your next chance will be!

That’s awesome (and seeing New York is amazing on its own).
Hopefully the team puts as much effort into the game as you are to get to it.
Either way, enjoy!

I watched the flames both in Toronto and Washington. The biggest thing I noticed is that there is always a decent amount of flames fans no matter where you go. Not enough to make a lot of noise on TV, but noticeable enough that you'll see them in the halls during intermission.
Enjoy the game.

I'm currently in the process of planning a trip down the coast to watch one of the NYC-area games that same week. Tickets for the NJD game seem more than reasonable for lower bowl seats. Have fun & safe travels!

New York is pretty awesome just by itself, so many things to see and do. To be able to see the Flames as well is just the cherry on top. Have a great time, you'll have a blast!

If the Islanders game is in Nassau Coliseum (instead of Barclays) I would definitely recommend going there. While it has been renovated, it's still a small, more old-school arena that gives you that intimate experience that you don't get much in new stadiums these days. Much better atmosphere than Barclays as well, since its full of real Islanders fans.
Prudential Center, where the Devils play, is a nice new arena, but a bit soulless past the lobby (although the lobby is definitely great).

Congrats! That’s awesome.
I lived in NYC from 2000 - 2003 and was lucky enough to be at MSG for an Iginla hat trick against the Rangers. Something I won’t forget.
