The jan 1 to the end of season was from the article not mine. 2.65 seems pretty middle of the road to be 6th best...
After the All Star game the 2.10 seems scary ... That compares to the Flames 3.35 over the last 20 games going 10-8-2
No amount of fancy stats can paper over a 3.35 Goals against. That is the whole team playing weak defense. (Gio and Hamonic missing.. a bit over half the games. Hamonic might not be as easy to replace as some folks think)
I think it probably can, by virtue of the fact that there will be a substantial gap in time between when teams stopped playing and when they will start up again. For example, the Flames's unimpressive GAA over the selected timeframe could be attributed to a nagging injury for Rittich inasmuch as the Jets's stellar GAA is attributed to Hellebuyck playing out of his mind for a spell. Not that that is the reason, but it certainly could account for it.

A 2.10 with a 12-6-2 and those Crappy fancy stats...IF they held for the last 20 games would suggest that Hellebuyck would be the best player in the league as the season ended...
Which could then be irrelevant once the players start up again. We simply don't know whether Hellebuyck can resume and then sustain that same level of play after a three-month hiatus. Maybe he can; maybe he won't.

The Flames goalies saw slightly more shots over the last 20 games than the Jets goalies 653 to 634
You can ride a hot goalie, but it will only get you as far as you help him out defensively. See the Flames against the Avs last season. We just need to shell Hellebuyck. He can't stop them all if he has very poor defense.
About your post before the one I quoted, your away and home stats could mean something if we actually had a home and away this season. We don't, we're all in the same conditions, same building, same everything. With that in mind, the cup is basically there for anyone to grab. Nobody has momentum.

I've never been accused of being Captain Sunshine around here, but if you don't think we have a realistic chance of beating the Jets in a 5 game series, give your head a little shake.
Yeah, flip a coin in every single series. This is uncharted waters and you can throw everything out the window. Its probably going to be a steamroller one way or the other.
