Never Too Late to Come Home
Blake Wheeler has been reported to have signed a lucrative 3 year 9.999M deal with the Carolina Hurricanes. The UFA season had officially opened as the clack clicked11:59PM and minutes later it's believed that Wheeler became a Hurricane for the second time of his career
At this point, it is not yet official, as the Hurricanes and Wheeler still waiting for the league to confirm and approve the signing. But due to the Hurricanes finishing 5th last in the standing last year, the only teams that could match the Hurricanes 9.99M offer are the New Jersey Devils, New York Islanders, Columbus Blue Jackets and the Tampa Bay Lightning. But none of those teams have the necessary cap space to match the 9.99M offer the Hurricanes have been reported to have given the winger. The closest team is the Jackets with a max possible offer of 9.02M
After the signing, the Carlina Hurricanes will have a total of 0.10M cap space remaining and ready for the puck drop of the 2021-2022 season
