I agree Flames are on the bubble, but how many teams in the Pacific aren't? It's pretty concentrated there. I'd say most teams are sitting there, with the risk of a losing streak dropping them out.

Yeah absolutely no one is comfortable but for say St. Louis. And Coyotes only team clearly out of it.

Nashville has to be pretty comfy. LA as well, shockingly. Winnipeg maybe not but only because they're Winnipeg.

I know your post is a few days old but made me look at it again. Jets are 6 points up on a playoff spot with 50 games to go. So they could definitely blow it.

But 30 games is now enough of an indication of how good a team is that you wouldn’t expect some sustained drop off for rest of year. That’s why Oilers are in so tough.

For Flames it’s a numbers game. Seems to be several teams gunning for last few spots.

The red snake has a 16-12-3 record after 31 games. It sits 1.293 points below the black line, 1 point below the green snake, and 1 point above the purple snake. The red snake is currently on pace for 92.5 points. It needs to win the next two straight games to get above the black line.

I know the Flames haven't been playing great over the past few weeks and the snake graphs are probably a little disheartening, but how did this thread fall to the fifth page in the FOI forum??

The snake feels lonely - we must give it strength to rise again!

No time for a big write up tonight, but here are the snakes. The red snake is 2.829 points below the black line, and 1 point below the green snake. It would take four more straight wins to get above the black line. The red snake is currently on pace for 90 points. It will require 52 points in the remaining 42 games to reach 96 points. That's a 26-20-0 record, or a 1.238 PPG pace. The black snake is on a 1.171 PPG pace.

This is true-it was a Chinese Needle Snake. They got a special type of gorilla to eat it.

And it being Edmonton, the beauty of it was that the gorilla froze once winter came.
