Now I have never watched the Cosby show as a regular but the show aired from 1984-1992.
That was a pretty bad time for racism against black people so not really shocked a little racism might have been thrown the white man's way.

Wasn't All in the Family supposed to be more satirical though?
I can't say I ever noticed anything racist about the Cosby Show in particular. It wasn't in Fresh Prince territory anyway.

There's no way The Cosby Show was racist. At all. It basically pretended race was a non-issue, which was a great approach IMO.

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding you here, but are you implying after 45 years somebody would forget being raped?

I'm of the opinion that after the support the Ghomeshi victims received, these ladies decided it was finally their turn. This is another one of those poorly kept secrets in Hollywood.
It's past time to expose creeps like this who get away with things because they're famous.

All in the Family was so far ahead of it's time in that it portrayed racists(Archie) as buffoons. It brought many issues, not just racism, to primetime TV and in a comedy to boot. It was groundbreaking.

I watched this documentary on Netflix on the weekend called Brave Miss World. It was about Linor Abargil, an Israeli beauty pageant contestant who won the Miss World title in 1998 a couple months after being raped. She travels around encouraging other women to speak out. There were a lot of common themes between many of the victims she spoke with. Many of them were discouraged to speak out because the other person was popular or in an important position. Many were told they simply wouldn't be believed and clearly we can see that's true. I can understand why more women don't come forward. Why expose yourself publicly to have no one believe you and worse, have the blame thrown back at your feet?
I don't doubt that this could be true. It sounds like multiple women have come forward and I don't personally know Bill Cosby. Just because he played a nice guy on TV doesn't make him a nice guy in real life.

If Cosby is racist to anyone it is to young black comedians

1969 was the very heat of the sexual revolution. Guilt-free sex was on everyone's mind then, I presume. Movies from that era, both American and European show frivolous men's behaviour toward women in the workplace and social settings as acceptable and, often, in a humorous light. I don't think the rape accusation against Cosby going back to 1969 is going to be easy to prove beyond reasonable doubt.

The statue of limitations is up and he cannot be charged for his crimes in a court of law.

"Isn't there like a statue of limitations on that?"
"Statute."
"What?"
"Statute of limitations. It's not a statue."
"No, it's statue."
"Fine, it's a sculpture of limitations."

FML. I feel shame and yet I know that my intention was correct, it was merely a failure of my typing.

If I am reading RAINN's website right, New York has no statute of limitations on rape, or most other forms of sexual abuse.
Edit: Of course, the law could certainly have changed since 1969, and I don't know if the state would try a case based on the laws as written at the time.

Nah, I don't think that applies when you have multiple, unrelated accusers who have all run up against a man using his power and wealth to silence them.
By all accounts, Cosby looks to be a serial rapist, who has probably hurt and destroyed many lives along the way.
Considering everything, I think the media is being far too lenient on him so far.

The American media is just plain stupid
CNN host asks alleged (Bill Cosby) rape victim why she didn't just bite off her attacker's dick
Not surprising who the host is.
