I held off buying Witcher 3 for far too long so I finally bought it a few days ago. Ploughed through Witcher 1 for the 3rd or 4th time in the summer and am currently going through Witcher 2 again. Only beaten that once. Enjoying them a lot and I know Witcher 3 is going to be an amazing 100+ hour experience. Can't wait!

GRIS is a nice game, somewhat short and pretty easy (I assume there's lots more to find though), but I like the aesthetics and how they add in game mechanics is nice.

Yeah how dare they play the world's most popular multiplayer game, like the vast majority of people under 30.

(I've never played Fortnite)

I don't think it's "hype" at this point. Fortnite transcends video games and has become one of the biggest things in pop culture in the last decade. Imagine, a video game comes out and then a year later you have:

- One of the biggest hip hop stars and NFL stars collaborating with a streamer
- Professional sports teams banning the game on the road
- The company behind Fortnite becoming worth around $8 billion (the game is free too btw)

Not mention you can play this thing anywhere. It's a full fledged PS4 game and also a download from the app store on your phone. Not really hype anymore.

Because it's over-hyped and I'm sick of hearing about it.

The thing that I like the most about the game is the business model. A game that is as free as you would like it to be. A team of developers who continually respond to the player bases feedback, not just in rhetoric but in content. Speaking of content, there is constant content updates making the game feel new month to month.

I'm not arguing that people should like this game, the game style, or its cultural impact. I am saying that the way developers have approached this game is actually really healthy for gaming.

Its the candy crush of FPS...I agree its no good. There are constant updates because they are constantly getting people to pay more and more money

There is a reason its nowhere near any GOTY awards despite popularity

That being said they are free to play it...game is just kinda sad for someone that appreciates video games as an art form.

I mean, let's be real.

Everyone's free to play "Lonely German Man Naked In A Room Coughing While A Single Bulb Hangs Overhead" or whatever new indie game just got Steam Greenlighted, but most people just want something pick up and go that's colorful, dumb and some good ol' rooty-tooty-point-and-shooty.

*Cerebrally decides to play the thinking man's shooter, R6:Siege*

My kid asked me to play with him so I tried it. Seems like it'd be a lot of fun, lots of stuff to do, the building combined with the FPS makes things very different but I could see how it'd be fun.

Not my style, it's very twitchy/bunny hoppy.

But it seemed well executed.

I would have loved it if TF2 had been that popular when it was in its prime.

its almost as though this thread is to discuss video games and our opinions of them

Fortnite is a fad, a decade from now people will still be playing and talking about breath of the wild. The kids will have moved on from Fortnite to....whatever

Its an opinion...like I said, if the game was actually good and not just made to drain kids bank accounts it would have gotten serious GOTY buzz. Candy Crush of FPS

My thoughts

I've played like 4 matches of Fortnite and I have never been so bored in my life. I don't understand why that game (or honestly the whole Battle Royale genre) is so popular.
