I kind of thought retirement was his next stop. Interesting hire as they will probably play a tighter style of hockey but at the cost of offensively stifling hockey.

Seems like a panic move by a team who was banking on Trotz "coming home". Most experienced coaches have now been scooped up and they didn't want to be the girl at the prom without a date...

Weekes reported the Jets offered the position to Tocchett and it was his decision to make. This signing could simply mean Tocchet said no so they went with their next backup plan.
I doubt Bowness was their number one target.

I absolutely LOVE Rick Bowness as a person, 10/10 human.
But as a coach of the team I like, I would be upset

Haha yup, first coach ever of the Jets
Edit: Who taught me to read? First coach of the Jets AHL affiliate. I r dumb. Was then an assistant with Winnipeg afer though
