Default Regehr settling into life after the NHL

Quote:
Better yet ... ask the forwards he’s playing against, recreationally.

“The first game, I did take a penalty for body contact in the corner, just because I was so used to doing that,” said Regehr, who ended his 15-year NHL career in April 2015, and officially retired as a member of the Flames last January.
Quote:
“I never went through that many sticks,” Regehr said. “I keep using them over and over and over again. The flex just isn’t where you need it to be, but I never went through too many. Mine were pretty durable. I wasn’t handling the puck nearly as much as a lot of other players were out there.

“The sticks I used, believe it or not, were very durable. They work very well for cross-checking and things like that. They don’t break very often.

“I still have a good supply.”

Nice read on the former Flame. I dont think I want to play against Reggie even in beer league.

I like that he gauges the quality of his hockey sticks by how well they can handle cross-checking.

Last season he played in the Winsport Hockey Canada League and did pretty well for himself.

They handle it better than Jiri Hudler's arm.

But what's his HERO chart compared to Sven, the guy who played two years pro in Switzerland?

Wow.

Where was he supposed to sign to "chase the Cup"?

There were 29 GMs lined up and Iggy had his pick? Lord almighty.

Interesting fact:

Robyn Regehr was first row for the final Tragically hip Concert.

Now we can all love him even more!

I thought he signed with Colorado because it was the most term a team would give? Stabilizing his family in one place instead of jumping places.

And lets not forget Colorado had just won the Central division in a landslide the season before. It's not like Iginla picked a garbage team just because they were willing to pay him a lot.

Perfect, a Regehr thread gets hijacked by Iggy.

He sat at my bar for dinner before the concert. said he was least excited to console his crying wife the whole time haha.

He plays on my uncles mens league team every now and then..he still has quite the shot. apparently people move out of the way and goalies aren't a big fan of it hitting them either.

i love it when pucks hit me... makes my job a little easier!!

i've had the chance to play with some pros and it's ridiculous how hard some of them can shot. it's crazy when the puck hits your pad you can can feel what i'm assuming is a 'shock wave' hit your shin bones! and to think players drop to block incoming shots - that's just nuts!!!

my regehr story is he gave me my nickname of "showstop"

(he's obviously never seen me on the ice! bahahahaha!!! )

The guy is a beast. In the morning I see him at the gym and I go to and he's a freak when he gets into it.

His legs are so strong - it really is amazing how physically gifted these guys are.
