Boy now that makes the game seam cheap !!! Before the game, all the comercial breaks, and even flashing betting stuff on 3/4 of the screen during play..... what the heck!!

I'm kinda discussed with it!!!

Not good!!!

It's all about money..... they want it from every angle.. gambling on the game

It's awful. Literally non-stop and at every opportunity.

I always love the super quiet blurb about gambling addiction at the very end.

Ontario just launched its regulatory regime for single-game bets in April, so we're getting a ton of new players spending money on ads. And Rogers isn't going to turn that money down.

I guess be thankful they haven’t started taking naming rights on arenas yet, though maybe that would be better than every second arena being named “Rogers something”.

I'm sure it's only a matter of time. We already have Crypto.com Arena.

It's funny that you brought this up as I was going to do this myself soon. This non stop bombardment of this gambling stuff is unethical and will be extremely damaging from a society if this continues.

I am speaking as someone who used to gamble reasonably heavily on NHL and NFL, at a young age, via a bookie. The purpose of gambling is to find the odd line that is off or doesn't make sense in your opinion, hoping to place a bet and make some money. Somewhat like picking an undervalued stock or two.

All this non stop electronic gambling, laying parlays while taking a s***, Draft Kings garbage, every 2 seconds and every 4th play an updated line on a meaningless game is just not healthy. Smartphones are addictive enough for a lot of people but for people to be laser focused on this mickey mouse stuff and clicking away their life is not healthy.

I get it, there is money to be made for the people in charge, makes sense. Why is the government allowing this to the same degree? It isn't just degenerate gamblers who are watching TSN, Sportsnet and sports. It's families, it's young children, it's people who are already addicted to their phones etc.

We are allowing this to poison our society and are in essence normalizing this level of behavior WAY beyond what was ever considered normal or acceptable not that long ago. Literally non stop. Most seasoned sports gamblers used to only hear from their bookie's on settlement day other than when they laid a bet.

This isn't healthy and I am speaking as someone who has a decent amount of experience in this regard.

They’re going to have to make some legislation about gambling advertising.

It’s not appropriate to be beaming these incessantly into the eyes of children who are just trying to watch a hockey game.

Cigarette companies have money too, but we don’t let them spend it on TV and radio ads.

I find this very unethical as well. Bombarding ads like crazy. And that new law allowing for single game betting really is adding fuel to the fire

Ya I’m pretty freedom of choice but this needs to stop. Ban all tv ads and ban all sponsored content. If SN or TSN wants a gambling segment, let them do it without being paid.

I posted this in the game thread:

My 8 year old asked me "Dad, why don't you bet on sports?”

Great positive role model there, NHL and sportsnet.

That's a pretty recent development in the grand scheme of things and only happened after decades of lobbying.

Alcohol has probably ruined more lives than gambling and it's still advertised everywhere.

People don’t want to spend $$ for cable TV and don’t want Crypto and Betting advertising

Those are the only 2 options !
