I can respect the calm and collected attitude, but show some grit and get engaged.

I wouldn't say so at all. The Stars look a bit better this period because they actually possess the puck for more than 5sec, but that's about it

Stars are better but not dictating by any means. Flames bobbling the puck a little more to start the period, which is a contributing factor. Still plenty of hustle on the Flames' end this period.
