when i got my u turn ticket i submitted a disclosure request. a month later nothing. i emailed today and they withdrew my ticket. woop! maybe its because he didnt take my registration during the stop or who knows. hurrah! this is especially just to me because when i talked to the school about that morning, there was an administrator with a cop on the other side of the school and he was just giving out warnings.

A rare bit of joy from Canada Post today where they delivered a package almost a week ahead of schedule. I was supposed to get something on May 17 and miraculously it arrived today.

I don't really know one of my neighbour's that well, but he and his wife are just the nicest people. Late 60's, no kids. He's been dealing with colon cancer and undergoing a host of treatments for maybe 6-8 months, and today when I saw him he said he was given a clean bill of health.

I just got back from a trip to Radium. Hwy 93 is an amazingly fun/great/awesome drive, and I saw a ton of wildlife, including a black bear, along the way.

My daughter and some other girls I've coached occasionally come out and skate with our shinny group when we are short bodies. They make the rest of us look bad!! We need to tell them nobody forechecks or backchecks, and stop taking 45 second shifts, this is beer league - it should be two minutes or more now. It's also tough for us to adjust to crisp passes that are actually on the tape.

It's a blast!

I love our backyard.

Kootenay National is a gem for being 99% wilderness.

I absolutely love the beginning of spring, when the leaves start to pop out. It gives me this intense feeling of nostalgia going back to school years, when spring meant the end of another school year, a summer of concerts and fun, and overall good times. I love getting that feeling on these gorgeous spring days.

When I last played hockey (Bantam) our team was probably the worst div 6 team the city has known, and we got absolutely slaughtered like 10-1 by a women's team. IIRC, we were sure we had that one in the bag

The cleaning gang at work are teaching me a few words in Punjabi every day. Simple stuff like "good morning" and "thank you" along with words for stuff like "sunflowers" and animals. I imagine my accent is butchering the language and making them laugh, but it's helping to fight the daily monotony.

Oh, I'm certain of it - that's the rule when it comes to teaching languages, isn't it?

wrmmh... my mom has finally decided that she wants to list her house!

this is the house we moved into when my folks decided to move to kelowna from southern ontario in 1986... so there is almost 40 years of "stuff" there. my dad passed away almost 5 years ago and since then we've been urging/encouraging my mom to downsize. the house is big (around 3500 sqft + 2 sheds... one my dad used as a wood shop) on almost 1/2 an acre - the house is waaaaaay too big for one person, it's old (built in the '70s) and she can't keep up with the yard. i can only do so much becuz i have my own house and business to take care of... oh yea... and wife and kids! ha!

over the last few weeks i've been spending any spare time i've had over there cleaning stuff out (my mom is 78 - so all the heavy lifting has to be done by me - which is fine). a buddy of mine owns the local got-junk franchise so he gave my mom a great deal and we had pickup arranged for yesterday morning. how much stuff can you fit in 2 full got-junk trucks....

Spoiler!

i'm sooooooo happy all that stuff is gone - i'm sure i'll still have to take a load or two to the dump as my mom packs up her house, but to get rid of all this stuff was huge!

bc-chris, did you legit pay someone to throw away like $100G worth of lumber and wood without batting an eye?

Just bugging you. I'm in the process of doing the same with junk my parents say they want to get rid of themselves... but still haven't gotten rid of after a decade. It'll feel great once that stuff is cleared out.
