I dont understand this. Finishing 4th is no different than fans being ecstatic about their team not being relegated.

Not being in that group is essentially being relegated out of Europe. Its a huge difference in competitions and as such available funds.

On top of which wouldnt it be even sweeter to see your direct rival have their destiny in their hands and then fumble the ball right to their worst enemies?

I dont know, it makes total sense to me.

Especially when you look at the vast gulf in quality in the PL. It really doesnt look like anyone is going to be closing that 1-2 gap anytime soon so playing for European honours looks far more enticing.

Well for us to add to this, is that us playing again in say Europa Conference isn't appealing to Conte and likely not to Kane or other players. But top 4 means that we're in the biggest competition next year, which hopefully sates Conte and helps bring in players this summer both from a monetary and status perspective.

The fact that we could get there to beat out our biggest rival is obviously going to be celebrated. It's hilarious that an Arsenal fan would try to suggest that this is somehow no big deal, because it clearly is.

Getting CL is a pretty big deal no?

For a team like Tottenham, that generally runs the club as revenue neutral, the additional money is pretty important for attracting and paying talent.

Also, I think most Spurs fans did not think they would be here before match 1 or after Nuno was sacked.

I don't want to count my chickens before they hatch though. We have a big game against an already relegated Norwich...what could possibly be more Spursy than this?

I probably would’ve posted something childish to be fair.

Come on now

Even Wenger a few years ago said it's basically a trophy to finish top 4

I dont agree with it, but domestically, I would say it would be more preferred by most teams/fanbases to winning the fa or league cup

I wish they'd give a CL spot to the FA Cup winner rather than 4th, maybe in a few years with the new CL set up and England pretty much guaranteed a 5th spot they give that spot to the FA Cup winner

It's the fans POTY he wasn't nominated for, not the actual POTY. He will definitely be a finalist for actual POTY, it would be insane if he weren't.

Not EPL news directly, but AFC Sunderland win promotion to the Championship. Have been keeping an eye on it since watching Sunderland Till I Die S1 and S2 a couple of years back. Nice to think of unconditional fandom rewarded in a way. Ha'way the Lads!

They've had a tough few years with double relegation, their biggest rivals being owned by a petro state now

Nice for them to get some good news

No nerves today. I just don't see Man City losing, so I've been resigned to the outcome for the past week or so now. Just settling down to enjoy what should be an exciting final day elsewhere.

Man City have looked dreadful so far, Liverpool really might steal this.
