Parenting Help Question
So my 2 year old is really starting to talk now. He's picking up new words every day.
He loves to run to his mother yelling "MAMA" and its adorable.
However, he calls me "Ben".
Now there are two things wrong with that:
1) I'd prefer, Dada; and
2) My name isn't Ben.
We have no idea where he got that from.
Ummmm, how do I fix this? Haha

My advice is to just enjoy these times, I’m sure you do. He will grow out of it. My daughter insisted we call her spring roll when she was three lol.

Does your name sound anything like "Ben" or does your wife call you "Hun" or something like that? He might be trying to replicate something like that and just can't do it yet.
Does he make the "duh" sound otherwise?
If you or someone else says, "come/go see Dada/Daddy", does he go to you? What about if they say "Ben"?
If he recognizes and associates "Dada/Daddy" with you, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Yeah, I'd let it ride because it's hilarious. He'll just stop one day and you'll totally miss it.

The correct answer is a legal name change.

I betcha he thinks he's saying something different. I could pronounce something exactly the way my kid did, and he'd be adamant I was saying it wrong. I think that's hilarious though.

I’d embrace the hell out of that as it’s hilarious. In no time it will be corrected and he’ll have the rest of your life for him to call you dad. My kids mispronouncing things is honestly one of the best memories I have of them when I look back as it’s so funny.

To this day I call my dog Chlo-lee because when my daughter was that age, she mispronounced Chloe. Too bad, Chlolee and Ben.

That sounds fun TBH. I called my Dad by his first name for the longest time and we still talk about and my kids find it funny.
But if it really bothers you, have everyone else in the family call you Dad. If that’s all he hears, he’ll forget Ben soon enough.

My little grandson sometimes calls me by my first name to needle me. I chase him around and tickle him until he relents. It’s our gag. Make a game if it. Years from now you’ll relish the fond memory.
