On one of the seasons of the Amazing Race Canada, the teams had to go to Horsethief Canyon for one of the challenges. Some of the teams went to Horseshoe Canyon instead and lost a bunch of time. They're both relatively close to Drumheller, but one is northwest and the other is southwest, so going to the wrong one could waste a bunch of time.
You could write a clue directing the teams to go to Horsethief Canyon, but if they screw up solving the clue (or don't know that Horsethief exists), they might go to Horseshoe instead. Something like: "Visit the canyon that shares its name with an equine purloiner". If they don't know that "purloiner" means thief, they might just see "equine" and "canyon" and assume it's Horseshoe.

If it's a two-hour hunt, you could have a clue where they need to name the first song played on 99.5 FM after the top of the hour one hour into the hunt.

It's been a few years since I've been there, but they used to have a bunch of weird dinosaur statues and murals all around town. You could give out one point for every photo of a team member standing beside some "dino" thing --- but the catch is that a team only gets the point if they were the only team to take a picture with that specific dino thing. A team could potentially get a whole bunch of points doing that, but they run the risk of getting nothing if any of the other teams follow the same strategy. You could also put a limit on the number of points that can be gained this way as well so a team doesn't just spend the full time looking for obscure dinosaur paintings.
