Congrats to Team Einarson. Just a little anti climactic, always fun for it to come down the last shot and she could have been faced with something a little tricky.

Happy for Einarson and her team. Looking forward to next Friday and The Brier.

Women’s world championships are back on and will be held in Calgary curling bubble from April 30 - May 9. Einarson will finally get a chance to represent Canada on world stage. I have to check into it to see which other countries are coming to Calgary for the event.

Fantastic news - it would be crushing to win the Scotties back to back and never really put on the Maple Leaf to represent Canada. I wonder if the success of the Scotties in the bubble helped this decision along? If so, great work to everyone involved (well, great work either way!)

Now 1-4. The Olympic berth is slipping away.

I've watched a couple of games. They are playing absolutely brutal in the second half of games. Einarson missing some easy shots, like hitting and rolling out allowing a steal of two.

I get the pressure of representing Canada yadda yadda, but the real pressure is in winning the Scotties or Brier. You don't win those events missing easy shots.

Just super disappointing. Hope they can get it together.

Now they've lost to 3-man Germany. Just a disaster.

So is there a back door to qualifying for the Olympics after this tournament?

Yes. In December.

This World Championship qualifies 6 teams + China (if China is not in the top 6)
So the back door tournament in December would qualify the other 3 or 4 teams.

I don't know what Canada would do? The Olympics trials are in November but can you really have an Olympic Trials without an Olympic spot?
Then if you decide they to send the Olympics Trials winner to the back door tournament, you're asking that team to peak three times and travel to three places. Saskatoon->Europe-> Beijing in a span of 3 months.

Probably. There are two undefeated teams, Russia and Switzerland. Ideally, you want them to win out. 13-0 and 12-1 to knock teams into middle, and if Canada wins out, 8-5 could get in. Canada should beat Italy tomorrow morning but the big one is against Scotland tomorrow night. We'll know more then.

I assume that’s what you’d do. Olympic trials winner goes to that tournament to play the denmark’s and estonia’s of the world.

Hopefully no one needs to peak to qualify out of that tournament but still. It’s curling so I’d hope they can manage.

Top 6 not totally out of the question here. You play 13 games and Canada has 5 losses. Outside chance that 7-6 gets you into top 6 especially if China qualifies and it gets expanded by 1.

It doesn't get expanded. 6 is 6.

If China is one of the 6, the qualification tournament gets expanded from 3 to 4.

Gotcha. Well 7 and 6 would be a long shot to make it.

Results tonight went Canada's way. Denmark upset USA and Estonia upset Germany. Door is open but Canada still needs to win out.

Never seen live tweeting of a curling game. No TV.
