What about the current group says we are 1-2 moves away from being relevant as more than a bubble team?
I dunno, maybe im a pessimist but this team has advanced past the first round twice since 89'
mediocre teams stay mediocre always unless they do drastic things.

We should save Tampa from that Stamkos contract.

Much like the Flames and Lindholm...lack of RS wingers along with the emergence of Point as a clear cut top liner.

That one timer on the powerplay would be pretty sweet too.

Which I would be fine with, Stamkos puts the Flames on another level. Hall I just dont see it fans are gonna want him gone as soon as they see him taking a night off or coasting during a game.

I think I'd take Stamkos too, though I do think Hall can create more opportunities for himself while Stamkos is more a N-S player in comparison. In this scenario though, you'd have to deal assets to acquire Stamkos and in that case getting Hall makes much more sense. Even though Hall may not be a superstar player to carry the team in a playoff round, he's pretty close. I think a lot of people are underrating him because he isn't as good as the real top tier guys (McDavid, Crosby, MacKinnon). But he's shown he can step up despite being on really bad teams. With the right linemates he should do well on the Flames.

I disagree. This team can not afford to send their 22 year old potential top 6 forward and another 1st out the door (plus likely much more) for a 30 year old player who has battled significant injuries recently.
All things being equal then yes Stamkos over Hall every day of the week but when one is going to cost most of your premium assets and the other is cap space then it tips the scales back to Hall for me

I agree but it won’t be the same price unless Tampa decides to send us Stamkos for future considerations.
Tampa is going to want to basically send out the 8.5M with little to no cap coming back. I think their ask is at minimum Dube, 19+50th overall and probably Pelletier.

You know who has brutal takes? Ryan Pinder.
Dude thinks Flames should trade Monahan + for Andersson + Korpisalo.
That dude has some of the worst takes on this team out there. It is idiotic.

Yeah his trade proposals are horrible.
Korpisalo is overrated too. Before last year he went .905, .897, .897. And even last year he was only .911
He’s no better than Rittich has been over that time period and it’s unclear if he’s an improvement.

If it was a straight across one for one, Stamkos for Johnny.
Who says no?
Man, that trade would take balls to make, I think Calgary says no.

Tampa definitely says no
Downgrade of a player with much less term that barely clears any salary

It doesn’t accomplish the goals Tampa has which is keeping their own players. They would want straight futures and cap space if they trade Stamkos

But TB could then likely trade Johnny for futures and cap space.

I doubt they do.
Stamkos has more than earned his cap space. He is still an elite player.

And as soon as he gets pushback, like this morning from Rhett and Boomer, he starts the deflection argument "well what option is better". Then Boomer said Markstrom only costs money not assets.
Hard to have a sane discussion with someone who thinks their ideas are the only ones worth discussing. What does he think he gains trading Monahan money only to give $4M to Anderson and $2.8M to Korpisalo. He didn't even think it lowered the Flames center ice strength.

I highly doubt the Bolts trade Stamkos.
Sounds like Johnson is willing to work with them despite his full NTC, and Killorn's NTC is already limited. Both players will likely garner interest from teams around the league.

Johnson is likely working with them because iirc his NTC changes to limited next year anyways. Not a big difference between being traded now or in a year because they will be probably have to shed more then too.

He’s so fixated on getting a right hand D. As if that defenceman would mean anything if this team has bottom-5 centre depth when you subtract Monahan.
Yeah, it’s a irritating personality to listen to when he just takes his stance and doesn’t engage much beyond it. I turned the show off because of it.
