Hey guys, I'm getting married in 18 days and I'm trying to put together a playlist for the reception. It's a pretty small venue so we didn't bother with a DJ.
Give me some suggestions!
Also, I need to find a good "grand entrance" song, as the fiance didn't want to go with my pick, Gravel Pit by Wu Tang.

At my cousin' wedding last week, the entrance song was Eye of the Tiger. It was hilarious and awesome.
If you want some good dance/house music, find some stuff by Mark Knight. He plays super groovy stuff and is very easy to get into even if you're not into that kind of music. I requested a couple songs to the DJ and those tracks were the busiest the dance floor got all night.
My wife and I had a very small wedding, so we only played a few songs. Some I chose, some she did.
Entrance: How long will I love you - Piano instrumental (didn't like lyrical versions for this moment) (entry)
Signing Register: All of me - John Legend - this has now become waaaaaay overplayed
Exit: Safe and Sound - Capital Cities - this is bright, fun, dance/move to it
First dance: All about us - He is We (Wife picked it - I wanted: Never Tear Us Apart by INXS)
Sometimes a good thing to do is think of songs you like, then find an instrumental version - piano, acoustic guitar, etc. Then you have a song you like and don't have to worry about words. Also creates a mood vs people listening to words of a song
It just seems like the last few wedding that I've gone to have been really formulaic, it makes me wonder if they all used the same event planner who sold them on wedding number 5
1) The bride and groom enter the reception lead by a bag piper.
At some point they roll out the mush songs like the Dance by Garth Brooks, or I will always love you by Dolly Parton,
The fun songs will include something by the beatles like twist and shout. Shout by tears for fears, or you make me want to shout. I will give credit to the one that snuck Rubber band man into the play list because the Bride was a Guardians of the galaxy fan.
About 10 year ago I went to a wedding with a couple who were both complete hair metal heavy metal fans.
So they came into the reception to Turn up the radio.
The slow music was all power ballads.
The highlight was the DJ playing Balls to the Walls and the brides mom and dad turning white.
