I played all those games as a very young kid. I have them on Steam now, so I can go back and reminisce

Man I remember being blown away by Doom, Castle Wolfenstein, then Quake. ID kind of fell off the map after that being known more for their engines than games.

I had a lot of fun with Return to Castle Wolfenstein years ago but unfortunately, ID hasn't really put out anything great since Doom 3. Rage was alright but nothing spectacular.

Speaking of which, I thought Doom 3 was terrifying. Having to put your flashlight down to use a weapon was a cool mechanic even though it didn't make much sense.

Loved Doom. When I used to work ar Smed we would play that on the network on Beer Thursdays. Better than that was death matches playing Rise of the Triad.

Even better was playing Duke Nukem 3D over a network. Doom was a lot of fun though, all that pixelated blood.

Doom was my first experience playing a computer game in that kind of world with someone else. I just couldn't believe how cool it was to be playing against my brother in the same game. I remember playing that years ago in his office.

Anyone remember the ADKFA cheat?

I still play it using the zDoom emulator. I tried this mod called Brutal Doom and it is pretty satisfying to play.

I'd say it was probably Duke Nukem 3D followed by Goldeneye.

Duke Nukem 3D was so epic for PC. I remember it for the classic sayings and thought it was so cool there was so much blood and strippers. It's still fun top play once in a while.

Goldeneye is still one of the first person shooters I have had the most fun playing. We used to spend hours and days staying up all night playing the complex/facility with licence to kill mode. The jungle was also great if you were good with sniper rifles.

EDIT: Just remembered the BFG in Duke, best gun ever.

Goldeneye was all about the basement with proximity mines.

I still remember the first time I played Doom 2 and ran into a archville. They fired out huge damage had a ton of hit points, so I was gunning away. Then it started resurrecting the dead monsters in the room.

Just nasty
