Flames Flames @ Coyotes, 8:00 PM, MT. Sportsnet West, Fan 960

Slowly fading away. That's what the playoffs appear to be for the Flames, and after yesterday's stinker in Las Vegas they're an even longer shot. Still, we carry on and cheer as the boys hope to play Roadrunner to the Coyotes.

some game-day chatter (www.calgarysun.com)

Quote:
TJ Brodie was steamrolled by Ryan Reaves on a clean hit early in the second and would eventually depart due to an upper-body injury. Flames head coach Glen Gulutzan didn’t have an update on Brodie’s health during his post-game presser. If No. 7 isn’t available against the Coyotes, Matt Bartkowski would likely draw in.

Flames third-line centre Mark Jankowski certainly seems to enjoy his dates with the Desert Dogs. The 23-year-old rookie has scored 13 times so far this season, with three of those lamp-lightings against the Coyotes. Jankowski potted a pair, including his first big-league game-winner, in a 3-0 triumph at the Saddledome in late November, then sniped a shortie when Calgary’s crew celebrated a 5-2 win in Arizona last month.

Coyotes fab freshman Clayton Keller buried on a breakaway in Saturday’s 3-1 home loss to the Minnesota Wild. The 19-year-old whiz now has 20 goals and 32 assists on the season. He needs two more tallies — and two more points, period — to equal the most productive campaign by a rookie since the Coyotes arrived in Valley of the Sun. Peter Mueller debuted with 22 goals and 54 points during the winter of 2007-08.

Despite back-to-back losses and the NHL’s lowest-scoring attack, the Desert Dogs have posted an 11-5-2 mark in their past 18 outings … The Flames are riding a four-game winning streak at Gila River Arena … Coyotes head coach Rick Tocchet will miss Monday’s matchup to attend the funeral for his mother, Norma. In his absence, assistant coach John MacLean will run the home bench.
no lineup notes as of yet

...if the Flames can't be inspired, at least That Darn Puppet is. Before the game he's taking a trip to see the wonderful bounty of the desert:

Spoiler!

Go Flames

Oh yeah. There's still games to play. Hope Johnny just pads his stats the rest of the way.

What an awful season, other than the 7 game winning streak the entertainment value was very poor. First time I think since the B Sutter days where I barely watch the games anymore. Flames got 9 games left just finish strong and we will see what the offseason brings.

I'm sadly more excited and hopeful for the off season than I am for the rest of the schedule. And they're not mathematically out of it yet either.

Flames have beat what, 2 teams that are in a playoff position, since Jan 11.

Losers.... Am done, hope they get their arse handed to them tonight. They deserve nothing better.

Didn't you say you were done yesterday? Yet here you are spreading negativity again.

10pm Eastern start on a Monday to watch Gulutzan's terrible "possession" game? No thanks.

Let me know how this one turns out tomorrow morning.

More negative today. Quit following me around. please do spout your own opinion without claiming posters to be 'clueless' if they have a differing one

Actually interested to see how a Kulak-Hamonic pairing would do.

We're all pretty hardcore fans, but it really is hard to care at all about this game.

Especially given the chemistry Brodie had with Stone last year. I'm glad it took an injury to Brodie and being on the cusp of being mathematically eliminated to give it a shot

Really hoping for the win because it lowers the chance of a lottery pick. I swear, if the Flames get a top-3 pick, after years of lousy lottery luck, I am going to flip.
