I am quoting this just to reiterate it.

The players don't even believe.

It more than likely is. if I were a betting man, I would certainly wouldn't put money on them to win.

But if you believe 96 points can get you in the playoffs, then a 8-2 record, while extremely difficult would be enough to see them in. That's just math.

they have gone on a 8-2 run before. I don't think it's impossible for it to happen again. It's just extremely unlikely.

All they can do is worry about Sunday right now.

Honestly, I know a lot of people have echo’d this sentiment tonight but I’m not convinced the Flames are ready at this point to give up more assets for a rental.

Cue the carefully positioned camera and perfectly framed shot of Gluegun swearing at practice because he’s a real tough motivator!

Gimme a break.

No doubt Smith is probably the goat but I kind of feel that awful 5 on 3 was a turning point as once again as up to that the Flames I thought were the better team but once they didn't capitalize on that the Sharks scored and never looked back.

At the beginning of the season, if a genie told me that (a) Gaudreau would score around 90 points; (b) Ferland would score over 20 goals; (c) Tkachuk would score on pace for around 60 points; (d) Hamilton would score over 40 points; (e) Monahan would score nearly 70 points; and Smith would have save percentage of .920; I would have bet my house that the Flames would be competing for the division title. Hard to understand where it all went wrong. Again.

It ain't easy being a Flames fan. Like all long suffering fans of loser teams, one can only hope that one day they will be good and that all this failure will make eventual success taste that much sweeter. Maybe one day...

This season is effectively over. They won't go 8-2 to finish the regular season. Not this team, they're not good enough.

Turned on the game. Saw they were down 4-3 heard Cassie Campbell's voice and turned off the game.

Just saw the highlights. How can you not pull Smith after those 2 pathetic goals?

I guess next thing to get excited about is July 1st which is unfortunately the silly season.
Treliving will get some picks before the deadline.

I think you can get a mid to late first rounder for Brodie. I think you have to start there.

Agreed. Smith was awful tonight, and he knows it. The 4-3 goal was the back-breaker and then it just snowballed from there. Tough for the team to get any traction or momentum when every San Jose shot ends up in the back of your net, even from terrible angles.

That being said, the team is where they are because of their home record and their pathetic PP.

You’re right they’re not. I guess I can jump on the ABT train now, thanks for the added motivation.

I'm ok with Smith sinking the season he's almost solely responsible for salvaging in the first place.

Just hilarious how Kane sinks this game for the Flames. Too freakin' funny at this point in the season.

Kind of tells you where the Flames are at as a team no? Lest we forget that the Flames are a shining 1-7 against the Oilers in two seasons.

There's a lot of work to be done on this team.

Flames, although they had 3 goals missed some ridiculously good chances (Janko's shot hitting the shaft)

Then SJ scores on what aren't even scoring chances
