Another game where the Flames gift the Sharks two points. Only this game it was Smith doing most of the gifting.

I don't think motivation was the issue tonight. They came out ready to play. They had two leads in the game and were full marks for those leads.
Bad goal tending deflated them.

10 games till Gulutzan is finally shown the door. Should've been done at Christmas. May actually have playoff hockey then.
|
Yeah Smith blew this game but they shouldn't be in this position in the first place. Goalies are gonna have bad games, that is why you don't want to put yourself in a position where you almost have to run the table.

Man the flames could have used a big goal scoring winger tonight. Wonder if any were available at the deadline?

He's owned it when he's had stinkers. I expect him to do the same tonight.
He had a bad game at the worst possible time. It sucks. No other words.

What a wonderful season! It's bad enough that all the joy of the 2017/18 season has been sapped away by this disappointing team but any joy that may have come from the upcoming NHL entry draft has been sapped away by the fact the GM traded most of the 2018 picks away for the said disappointing team. I guess next thing to get excited about is July 1st which is unfortunately the silly season.

Powerplay Quarterback

My favourite part of that last sequence for a goal... was watching the intensity of the back checking players. Truly inspiring... and pretty much the same level of give a crap and urgency they showed on the 5 on 3 power play earlier tonight.
I can take a loss but not when it’s from this kind of effort when you should be showing heart. The only good thing was scoring by committee tonight. Other then that... not much else to say, defense really hung Smith out to dry and he looked very average himself. Bad combination.
You don’t have to look beyond effort and heart to see it’s the biggest problem with this team. Any sign of adversity and they just fold, not much sense in making the playoffs if that is how you gonna play you won’t make it pay round 1 anyways.

There's blame to go around but to me it speaks volumes that this team was clearly cooked the minute they went down by two whole goals. There is no believe, whether as a fanbase or the players themselves, that this team can ever mount such a comeback.

Admittedly i didnt watch a whole lot of this game as there was other much more entertaining options available that caught my attention...nut
What i did see was that for the first time in a while, the effort was non existant. Particularly during the last half of the 2nd. Thats a big problem.
Lots and lots of changes needed.

Was he going to come here because we ask nicely?
What were we gonna give up to get him?

This is quite possibly the least engaging season in Flames history. At least 2016 had a high pick to look forward to. This team just ####ing blows to cheer for

No kidding. i've been lobbying for this guy forever. Why does everyone worry so damn much about the off ice stuff? Not every team has to be made up of a bunch of boy scouts. I'm sure the Sharks could give a rat's ass that he used a stack of 100's for a cell phone. He just punched their ticket to the playoffs.

Didn’t get to watch but listened to about half on the radio. Sounds like Gaudreau came to play.
I hope Treliving knows what he is doing. This is going to be a challenging offseason with no draft picks and not depth from which to trade.
