Default Travis Hamonic is a Gem of a Human.

Last summer Travis Hamonic was traded from the New York Islanders to the Calgary Flames and he brought the Hamonic D-Partner Program which is designed to help children who have lost a parent at a young age.

It's nice to see someone that kids idolize who can unfortunately help them through losing a family member. He nails it by saying you're part of a pretty crappy club.

Terrific acquisition overall. Great human and recently a damn good defender. Really glad the Flames got him, he'll be huge on this blueline for years.

He certainly got the ovation tonight at the game... On an off note, that was the first and last time I'll watch a game at Barclay's center

I've loved the acquisition since the day it was made. Hamonic in my opinion will be a Calgary Flame for a long time. Easily worth more than magic bean picks that some like to complain about.

Fantastic human. Uses his position to help others who are less fortunate. Off the charts character. Love watching his intermission pieces.

Between Hamonic, Brodie and Stone I think Hamonic is the most likely one that elects to stay and finish his career a Flame. Would be a perfect situation for him and this club, he seems to really relish being in Western Canada. There's not a lot of players in this league you can say that about, especially those who have already enjoyed the Big Apple lifestyle of Brooklyn.

it would have been very easy to go off the rails with that kind of trauma at such a young age... They say it takes a village to raise a child, so i have no doubt that growing up in a small town where everyone could lend a hand must have helped

His family and especially his mom deserve so much credit for how Travis turned out...

just a tremendous story... dude has a combine tattoo on his arm for goodness sake!

I know we payed a premium, but after a slow start (to be expected with a D-man changing systems) he's become an absolute rock lately. Great positionally, good stick, physical presence... has stabilized Brodie to a degree.

There was some increasing whining about the price paid not too long ago but he's sure silenced the need for that talk over the last six weeks.

He's a beast on the ice and a prince off of it.

Can't wait to see him in the playoffs!
