- Have played really well at home as far as what they analyze within...shoot% way lower for some reason at home, but has liked the way they play at home....admits its all about results though
- Looking for scoring winger but not to replace Ferland on top line necessarily
- trying to find a fit cost wise...not a fan of rental players...tweaking things to help team not out of the question
- does Rangers press release do anything to the market? Tre doesnt think so...already in contact with all teams and have an idea what they are doing
- So as the TD gets here...do you feel pressure to do something if you havent? Gotta be careful about the "keeping up with the jonses" mentality. Go back and look at TD deals and its a very mixed bag as far as success goes. Wanna help the team, but must be careful. Moving players out can hurt room, but adding right guys can help. very conscious about adding the right player chemistry wise, not just anyone always fits.
- How good can Monny get? GG challenging 23 to be a true #1 C. Production is there, but now he has to get to next level defending. Taking steps to do that this year. Biggest compliment is his ability to produce while playing tougher competition.
- Tre in Manhattan with team. Watching other teams around the East as well.
As usual...not a lot of meat on the bone. Clearly going to do something at the deadline though.

With the Flames in the NY area until Sunday, will be interesting to see if Treliving is in Toronto Saturday night to watch the Sens play.

Treliving usually gets his business done well before the Deadline.

Taking a while to get to 5000

His comments on how you want to be careful not to upset the chemistry of the team, of that locker room, that made me feel better in light of recent rumors. If they somehow end up with Zack Smith, they'll at least - you have to assume - have done their due diligence.

He's careful but he hints ...
They want to upgrade the third line, but will only do it cheaply, or for a player that fits with some term.
They place a lot of value on chemistry (right or wrong), which explains why Bartkowski is not in the AHL as the players love him. Won't be quick to move a guy like Stajan for late round picks etc since it could impact the room.

Was he asked about replacing Ferland specifically on the top line and bumping him down, or was it just in general about acquiring a “top line winger”?

Maclean asked him about getting a W for the top line, but then said "not that Ferland hasnt done well there himself" (paraphrase).
Treliving had a glowing review of Ferland and stated uncategorically that Ferlands play stands on its own merits and that he isnt a passenger on that line.

No question.
There are, for sure, irons in the fire and he will be pulling the trigger on something. You could just tell by the way he was talking without giving up anything.
Its almost like he is happy with what he is hearing as far as offers for what he wants to give up...which i suspect is no more than one of the excess AHL dmen and maybe Gillies.
Im curious to see what transpires as it may be a bit bigger than i suspected it would before this interview.

Maclean joked, I am pretty sure I think it was a joke, yesterday, about Rick Nash and the Flames during the first intermission. He was probably thinking along those lines in asking the question today.
Brouwer is out until the 19th or so, missing at least 5 or 6 games, so I think that injury may accelerate at least one of the moves he was planning to do in the next 2.5 week to the deadline.

This is not a slight on Brouwer, but Treliving probably acknowledges that Brouwer wasn't the best fit for Bennett; So whoever he brings would need to have the right tools and attributes to complement the 3rd line. Sounds like Treliving has a good pulse on the team but the puzzle has to fit on a a number of levels.
