This is TJ Brodie, his one year of amazing play with Gio has passed and he’s now very much a # 4 Dman. His softness seems contagious and I cannot stand watching him in his own zone. We will not be winning anything with him playing big minutes, he’s just not good in his own end and he does nothing for me to think he will get better. Please trade him for RW with a shot. Play him for another year and his value will really be in the toilet

With Dion gone, Ottawa may be more likely to covet Brodie.
Brodie + something minor for
Hoffman + Oduya
Isn't that far off in value.

I don't think Gaborik should bother unpacking. He won't be a Sen very long, imo

Would anyone here trade Brouwer for Bobby Ryan?
Would save Ottawa $21,000,000, and although Ryan is overpaid and under performing, he is a clear upgrade offensively over Brouwer.

No thanks, that contract is so bad.

No. Ryan is made of glass. Go big or go home, try for something crazy and really try to improve the team. This team needs scoring and won't have success unless they get it.

If his contract was 3 years shorter, maybe. Way better off riding out Brouwer than paying Ryan 7.25 until 2022

I didn't see that, thanks. Yeah, that's a non-starter then. I'd like him, but he's not worth that much. Oh well, onto the next target I guess.

Old man Brodie is 5 years younger than Dion.
Ryan is an odd player, because if they can ever solve his hand injury problems, he would regain enough value to be a top line winger again.

Taking a while to get to 5000

Eric Duhatschek suggested in the Athletic that the Flames look at Bobby Ryan if the Sens retain half the salary

For ‘future considerations’ I’d consider it. Still got reservations. Can he bounce back? Hard to say.

How's his one-timer? I've always thought of him as a playmaker, but if he can shoot it from his offwing on the PP I'd be interested. With retention on Ryan, of course.

Bobby Ryan sucks, he probably can't even spell salary retained. The only person who would like the trade is Brouwer because he would no longer be CP's whipping boy.

Ryan always seems to be hurt, every few weeks he's out with a hand injury.

2017/2018 Trade Speculation and Rumors
I’ll be very surprised, given Ottawa’s situation, if this isn’t a full scorched earth approach.
Hoffman, Ryan, Karlsson —> out there door with money retained on Ryan.
Gain a bunch of high quality prospects (priority being the prospects) and some picks. Go very young with Duchene and Stone as the cornerstones up front.

That wouldn’t save them any cash really. I think the only way Ryan gets moved is as a big salary dump. So they can retain money but they won’t take a bad contract back.
