My son got to be the Flames videographer for a night
Please indulge me here, I'm bored and really missing hockey so I thought I might share a memorable Flames experience for myself and my son from this past season. Back in February of this year when the world was normal and we could still do things like attend hockey games in large crowds my (then) 15 y.o son, Owen was invited by the Calgary Flames to attend a game and shoot, edit and produce a ~70 sec. hype video for the team. The Flames also offered to show my son's video on the Saddledome jumbotron at the next home game as part of their Jr. Flames promotion.
Needless to say, my son (who is really working hard to build a freelance videography business) was so excited for this opportunity (and I, being a lifelong Flames fan was frankly... starstruck). The day of the shoot, I could not have been more impressed with the Flames organization, we got the star treatment and my son was afforded access to the team, the players and Flames game day production staff behind the scenes that just proved to me again what a great organization they are. Anyways, here is my son's video that he shot and edited that night. It was shown on the Jumbotron 10 days later at the Family Day game v. the Ducks. Truly one of my fondest Flames memories from the last 40 years.

You mean to tell me that your 15 year old son made that video?
Damn man....that kid's got real talent.
Congrats!
Yep. 15 years old (he's 16 now). Thank you for the kind words, I will make sure I pass on any and all comments you guys have for him. Also, if any of you are interested in more of his work you can see it at www.owenpoffenroth.com Thanks again

Other than the 2 Flames goals (which he was given permission to use) that was all shot by my son. He got to stand on the Flames bench for warmies, stand in the tunnel for pre game intros and outside the Flames locker room pre and post game. He shot the whole game rinkside with the Flames regular videographer (who "took the night off") - Their in-game production crew are very talented and they treated my son like he was just a member of the team - we even got invited to the media lounge for pre-game dinner (because for at least one night he was a member of the media).

Your son has a long career in video production ahead of him! If I had seen this video out of context I would never have guessed it was done by a teenager.

Yeah that was awesome. Showed the character of the players too which I always find way more interesting.
You're kid looks like a miniature Chucky!
We had a lot of comments that my son could easily pass as Chucky's (and Brady's) little brother. They were all having a good time goofing around as my son filmed their pre-game 'soccer game' outside the dressing room. I totally agree though - that's the good stuff that us fans rarely get to see.
