Default Anyone heard anything about a new regional TV deal?

Posted this up north last week without much success. The regional deal with Sportsnet is up and its kind of unusual a new deal has not been announced. Looking for actual business-type info, not a list of announcers your love or hate. Thanks!

I've been wondering about this, myself. I haven't seen any further news on Twitter about a new TV deal.

Just going to go out on a limb and guess that TSN will be pursuing the rights.

They own Winnipeg's rights already and I believe thier numbers dropped substantially when they lost most of their games in the early 2010's (this is all going off memory, sorry if I messed up).

They are the front runners if change were too occur.

I haven't heard anything recently, but last I heard the rumor was SN was only interested in keeping either the Oilers or the Flames; most likely the Oilers

I, for one, welcome the drastic increase in audio/visual presentation quality.

And no more of that hack Principe and the Oilers broadcast crew.

The broadcast quality increase would be VERY welcome.

But getting a dedicated Flames crew every night, without ever having to live it Principe and the Clown Show would be a godsend.

Sportsnet would still have the Oilers and national games, so we'd still get Principe sometimes; actually probably more often since there wouldn't be a dedicated Flames crew.

If TSN picked up the Flames they would certainly have a dedicated crew

Not on sportsnet, who would have Oilers games and National games; meaning they would still get ~25-30 Flames games a year.

When we were getting the Ball/Hrudey combo every night it was pretty good. We had the best local broadcasters. It was always wired why for Oilers games they brought in the hacks.

I will miss Ball / Hrudey and Campbell as she really improved while doing our games.

Picture / Audio quality will be a welcome improvement.

We'd get the Oilers crew for game against the Oilers, but we'd get a national crew for national games

I might be a little high, but if the Jets schedule this season was any indication, 22 games were scheduled to be on Sportsnet

we'd get a garbage crew for national games if any other Canadian teams were playing and if the Oilers aren't playing, you can bet they'd have Gene doing the Flames games.

Speculation or your part, and very unlikely IMO. They wouldn't bring Oiler guys down to Calgary to do a game the Oilers are't involved in

Of course it's speculation, we're talking about the future, it is literally all speculation.

Actually TSN already does most of the local broadcasts even the centre of the universe. I would not be surprised to see them pickup one of the few left and then Sportsnet pretty much would only have the Oilers other than national games.
