Imagine if the Flames were working yellow into their go to colour over red?
Difference is of course that the Oilers did wear orange as a primary color for a few years in the WHA days and their whites were mostly orange trimmed too, and orange slowly got relegated to a trim color when they got to the NHL.
As has been mentioned before, story goes the owner in the WHA days hoped to get Gulf Canada Resources to sponsor them, and chose those colors, similar to Gulf's colors, to woo them. Gulf never did, but they kept the colors anyway. The genesis of that organization being NG.
I agree they are carrying the color too far (and they had different orange jerseys in back to back years for the last year at Rectal the a new version slightly altered jersey for the opening of the new building) and it's not visually pleasing, but it's hard to throw stones about tradition/branding/team color choices, even Edmonton, when the Flames went 3 seasons without a red jersey of any kind.

Surely there are environmental regulations about burning plastic, right? I wouldn't want to be standing next to that dumpster when the suitcase goes in.
